Let me first apologize for my newbie like excitement. The may be old had for most.

For just being in this game for about 2 n a half years, it's learn learn learn! And I just love it when I get a revelation or make a new discovery.

My original 7.1 set up consisted of; Towers L/R, standard center and book shelves for surrounds and a settled on wide channel.

After upgrading my L/C/R speakers, I now have an extra set of towers. I moved the extra towers to surround and the larger of the two bookshelves to the wide channel.

After approximately 3 months with this set up, I've been paying close attention to the sound and how the Monitors are blending with the RTiA's (L/C/R) and what I've noticed is, there is more content going through the wide channels than the surrounds while listening in Audyssey DSX 7.1 mode.

So, I swapped the M40's to surround and put the M70's up front outside the A9's. The distance is 2'3" between the main and wide speakers.

I rerouted the interconnects on my receiver so I'm powering the 70's with my amp and letting the receiver power the surrounds.

I don't see or hear of too many set ups with two sets of towers on either side of the center, so as unorthodox or out of the norm it may be, I'm really liking the results so far. My front stage is putting out big sound.

Sorry if this comes off as a yawner, I just wanted to share.

I only know of one other with towers in the wide spot, is there anyone else that can relate?
