    They didn't sound half good either...

    There were others that made speakers with like drivers. Technics comes to mind in that period. Mid '80s maybe?

    I am always a glass half full kind of guy, but in this case I would make an exception. As I recall, the Sonys were a part of a rack system, and they were built as cheaply as could be done.
