"Doomsday Preppers"

edited March 2012 in The Clubhouse
Anyone watched any of these episodes?

Some of the things they point out makes sense, and makes me wonder.
Pointing out alot of the Katrina issues and the breakdown of transportation chains, and lack of safe water in a natural disaster.
Some scary things to think about for sure.

Alot of them are just plain nuts in my eyes.

Anyone "prepping"?
At to what extent?

I need to do more myself simply because tornadoes are a yearly thing where I live.
If a truely bad one comes through (which many, many have in the past), I may have to drive 75-100 miles or more to find a grocery store that does not have empty shelves.

Dan, don't let Mike bother you, he is upset because I explained to him Taco Bell and Sonic will not be open during a disaster.
Well Sonic may be (have you seen their prices lately ) as much money as they are making.

Your killing me man.... Mention two of my favorite fast food places (Sonic just for Cherry slushies) while I am holed up in the hospital on a "mechanical" diet lol.....

Now I want a #8 combo with a Diet MD and a Nacho Bell Grande no tomatoes no sour cream......

Gonna picture that while I gnaw on some saltine crackers

I keep seeing "doomsday peppers" which reminds me of a Mexican guy I used to work with. We would play mean jokes and such. One day I gave him a Dorito chip with some hot sauce that would literally strip grease from the driveway (Da Bomb). He invited me to lunch one day with he and his wife and fed me a Savina pepper from the vine. If I didn't deserve I'd have murdered him lol. I caught him one day in about 105 degree heat and dumped a cooler of ice ice ice cold water on him and gave him the biggest ice cream head ache of his life. AHAHAH I liked Hugo. Funny effer I tell ya.

As wacky as it is, it is addictive!...LOL It's interesting to see what preparations people make. I think natural disasters would be the most common motivation.

Have you guys also seen the "Doomsday Shelters" show?

Did you see the guy who was building million dollar condos in an abandoned missle silo?!? I don't think he has sold any, last I saw. Although you wouldn't have to leave the silo in a disaster...

Yeah I did. Think about the socialogical implications of such a "community." Who would be in charge? Who would make the rules? Screw that, I'd get my own shelter.

One has to think about.....if society ever got that bad that we needed under ground communities/shelters for whatever reason, chances are laws of any kind will be out the window too. Think about the ramifications of that.

good question. Found some in my garage the other day, I think Miller light?? That was no good.

But I have another bottle that I was told was better if aged. So that I've had going on 4 years now and was going to maybe drink it this year. I've had some others that were aged but went a little too far and were a bit "odd" tasting.
