I need to sell my vintage Pioneer SX 850 receiver. Not some garage sale find. I am the 2nd owner or this unit. It is from the golden era of Pioneer and was made in 1976 or 77. Features 65 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 85 in 4 ohms. Has bass and treble controls with turnovers, high, low filters, nono stereo, loudness, -20db muting . Also has hookups for 2 turntables, 2 tape decks, 2 sets of speakers, 1 aux, 1 adaptor and preamp out main amp in.
The unit works great and all controlls work as they should. There is a slight pop when turning it off but otherwise nice and quiet. The controls feel great and silky. All lights work except the phono 2 indicator light. The orignal power cord has been repaired as I use a detachable cord with my gear.
The front panel is very nice with a couple of nicks on the very top edge. The cabinet is also nice. There are some scratches on the one side and on the other side the very botom back corner has some slight seperation. Oveall very nice and presentable. This thing weighs 42 lbs and is built like a tank. Put the build quality together with the look and the sound and we have winner from when gear was gear. Asking $225 Thanks, keith

From the photo on the bottom right it looks like the original cord is present or are my eyes deceiving me? Nice looking receiver and a nice price. GLWSSDA SRS 2.3TL's

Cool piece. Good luck with your sale.
Time slides by fast. I still remember the evening in 1977 when my older brother drove me to our local hi fi shop and we picked up a brand new SX-450 (15 watts per channel I think) that my parents were gracious enough to treat me to for my birthday. We paid $145.00. I remember coveting the bigger models like this SX-850. -
Nice receiver.
allow me to amplify :-) a bit with a couple of pages from an old, old Warehouse Sound catalog.
(I'd recommend a pair of Polk Audio Monitor 7 or 10 instead of the Altec Nines, though! -- oh, and anything other than that Garrard monstrosity for a tt, too!)

I was lucky to find one of these (but unlucky to have to lift it!) at an estate sale a year ago and they sound wonderful Very warm and great feel to all the components. The switches **** up and down and the big ol tuner knob just glides.

Geppy1 - I see that you also have a SX939 as well as this SX850 for sale? Are they still avalible? Only problem I have is shipping - I am in the Burlington, Ontario area.

I have a 939 left. I would ship but you would need to pay the shipping. KG
