You have been reported for not following the rules, not to mention your asking price is insane.

So sorry ... am new to forum - just wanted to offer a functioning vintage driver to someone who may be interested. Would be glad to remove post and place in proper forum - perhaps you would enlighten me on how to do that quickly.

You have to have 100 posts minimum to sell on here. You might want to try eBay. I'd say $25 is a far price not $100.

Go to the forum rules section. You can't use the For Sale Forum until you have been here and participated for awhile. We don't encourage fly by night sellers who just want to hock their goods here and that's all.

FYI, new replacement tweeters are available from Polk for $48 shipped, so you can see why your price is way out.

Good luck with your sale on Ebay and Welcome to CP if you decide to stick around and participate

lmao! Not only did you "accidentally" break the rules:rolleyes:, but you're asking 4 times the going rate! Psst, the RDO198 tweeter, the improved version of the one you're selling, can be had new from Polk for $50.

You have to have 100 posts to sell anything, and there is no quick way to get that without ruining your cred.

When you get to that point, there is a specific For Sale classifieds section of the forum that people browse to buy speakers and parts.

Also, Polk sells a brand new replacement for the SL3k for $60 that is generally considered superior, so your price point is well above market for a used driver.

Thanks for the reply ... have been trying to figure out how to remove post ... any pointers?

Am not a 'fly by nighter' just a dad who was finally able to unpack his ol' college day speakers only to find out that one tweeter was blown ... but the other one works and I thought it might be of interest to someone who really cares about sound quality.

Why not get a pair of RDO198's & get the speakers functioning again? 15T's are great speakers. It'd be a shame to part them if that's all that's wrong.

A mod has to do that, and it will probably happen in a few hours anyway. If you are thinking about rebuilding the speakers, you can get new tweeters from Polk and a discount if you mention you are a club polk member that brings them down to $48 each w/free shipping.

Well before this thread gets removed ... I want to again apologize to one and all ... thanks for all of the helpful information. As it is obvious by now I am a total newbie to this forum. Thanks again for the info on the replacements - and on how 'insane' my pricing is ... hopefully, I can resurrect the 15Ts ... my memory tells me that they indeed sounded sweet (but it has been quite a few years).

Stick around. People here will be more than happy to help you get them back up & running. Some of us may have been a bit harsh:redface:. One post wonders who don't contribute anything get annoying, but you don't seem to be one of them. BTW, since your 15's have the SL3000 they may actually be 15TLs. Not positive about that, but that would be even better.

Thanks ... I should have read the rules ... but alas I didn't ... how often I tell the kids to do that and it comes back on me. Life does have a strange sense of humor. I'll look into the 15TL designator - didn't know that there was a difference - haven't had time to focus on the stereo stuff in over 15 years ... it is amazing how much stuff has changed!!

The tweeters take a little time to break in, and some people say it gets worse before it gets better, so give them a while before you decide. Also, the 15's are known to have the crossover set a little low for the tweeter, which is why so many of them are blown. If you are feeling ambitious, do a search for RTA 15tl on the forums and check out some of the x-over mod threads to pump up the frequency floor on the tweeters.

Oddly enough, I just got a pair of RDO 198's and new x-over components arriving daily for a rebuild on a pair of RTA15's. I hope you enjoy yours even more than you did in college!

Never would have thought about changing the crossover frequency ... thanks for the thought!! Hey, while this embarrassing post of mine is still active ... any thoughts out there on who makes a good quality amp/receiver these days? In college I had a 60 W Yamaha that seemed fine at the time ...

First of all, what's the budget?
Many here will suggest you vintage amplifier with vintage speakers.
However, if you want to use them in HT, there are several good brands from Denon, Pioneer Elite to expensive ones...

    Klipsch RB81, KG3.5, B&W DM602.5, Polk.
Subwoofers: Klipsch RW10, Triad ProSub Bronze.

Budget is <$400 ... assuming I get $25 for the tweeter ... of course if someone wants to offer me the $100 then my budget balloons to $475

welcome to the Club, you should stick around and see what you can do with those speakers. I have never seen/heard them but they are on the top of my Polk speaker list to try some day now that I have heard many of the others.

    Good luck with the resurrection!

Well the replacements are in ... and they sound good ... my memory was correct (even using my wife's old Sony receiver)!! Now I'm off to ebay to post the driver to finalize my budget on the new amp/receiver. Thanks to all for the helpful posts.

Glad you like the new tweets. Honestly the replacement is better than the original and you are asking way to much for that SL3000. I see them go for 25-40 bucks max. 100 is ridiculous.
