Hi;
I need some options and an explanation.
First the question, what is the deference between the RT2000p speakers and the RT2000i speakers?

I also need options on what kind of subwoofer to get for the .1 channel on my Dolby 5.1 system. My room size is 15x20x8.

My present speaker system is;

RT2000i for the fronts
CS350ls for the center
LS/FX for the rears
And a PSW50 subwoofer for the rear speakers. I have the sub wired thought the speaker connections.

Thanks

    Hi:

    The 2000p has a 100W subwoofer amp, the 2000i has a 50W amp. There is also a difference in the material in the speaker cones I believe.

    A polk 350 or 650 sub would go nice with your system. Velodyne also makes a very good sub.

    the 2000p and the 2000i have the same amp...just spec rated different. The main difference is diff drivers (blue) and a better xover.....

    Look around..there are many subs that will work well....other then Polk (not a polk sub fan myself):cool:

    Hi Horacio this is Jason from Polk Audio customer service. The difference between the i's and the p's is the finishes. The i series, which is this years model, is available in either a cherry, maple or a black oak finish. All finishes are a real wood veneer finish. The p series, last years model, is only available in black vinyl. The only other difference is the tweeter in the i series is slightly clearer than the p series, but to most people it is hardly noticeable.

    Hi TUI:

    I have to differ with you on the amps. The specks say 100Watts for the P and 50 for the I's. You cant get any plainer than that. Those aren't different specks, those are facts.

    Actually I believe Thomas is correct. A year or two ago I believe the industry (or maybe just Polk, I forget) tried to "standardize" the amplifier power ratings. This way manufacturors couldn't artificially inflate their performance specs. I think this may have resulted from a law suit, but again, I forget. Whatever method they used to calculate the new power resulted in a lower rating. If you do a search in the archives I believe Polk Paul posted about this.
