I think you could run all 9....but the amps might not push but around 35-50 a channel. My 807 ran hot..I mean really hot...just pushing front height. If you want 9.2 ....I think you have to go separates.......IMHO"Making life enjoyable through expensive electronics." BillD

+1 ibewbrother.
Further, what speakers do you have or plan to buy? How big is your room?
If your front-to-back is 20'+ & your prefered seating location is 12'+ back, 6.1 or 7.1 maybe.
Otherwise 5.1 should do ya.
My HT is in a near-square room w/a very high ceiling. The LCR/TV and prime seating in opposite corners. Side channels well forward of prime seating. I needed a rear center channel. Plus I have mostly separates driving my speakers
Finally the list of true 7.1 titles is very short; no 9.X* that I know of. Someone feel free to chime in here* whether I right or wrong.

Do you have the WAF to consider? An Onkyo is rated around 135 WPC...2 Channels Driven..
Don't get me wrong... my 807 was wonderful on the video side...and the Audessey 32? is supposed to be the bomb, I can say for a fact that however efficient the Monitor line speakers are....... if you throw some power at them they will SING."Making life enjoyable through expensive electronics." I just picked up the Onkyo TX-NR 1009 which can run 9 speakers at once. Anything below that is either 7 or 5 speakers capable with 2nd zone speakers for another room.Polk Rt800i -Fronts
