Hello , I have been trying to sell my sda srs 2 's for months on CL Mpls ,MN . The asking price is for $700 ,what i paid one year ago on C.L . I finally lowered my asking price to $500 or best offer today . So far the highest offer i have received is $400.
What is the fair market value on these ? They are original with the exception of moortite and dynamat .Here is my listing . I recently seen a pair on Ebay with a starting bid of $850 . no takers on that .
I do not have room for them when i move in a couple of months . I need to sell but hate getting gouged . Thanks for any input !

I paid $450.00 with a 4hr drive each way to fetch my pin/blade SRS2s a few years ago. knowing what I know now, I'd say they're easily worth $600 and up for that model if in good condition. Location can be a ****, if you were on either coast.......you'd have sold em by now, IMO. I advise keeping them, forever.

    Maple,
If I was in MN I would be banging on the door to see their condition, hear them and take them off of your hands. If all was well I
would say that $500.00 is a fair price.
But I won't be there until this fall, (hunting season anyone?) and hope that you have moved them by then since family groans
when they hear that I am still trying to buy these things.

You miss a lot of things. Fortunately, I don't.

For example, I didn't miss your encouragement to circumvent the rules before you edited your post. One can only hope it will push the powers that be to finally ban your sorry a$$.

Nice talk for such a pillar of the community. If someone wants to leave the safe cocoon you provide here to venture into a deal for a desireable item with an unknown entity (much like ebay or CL) well, I'd say they should do so at their own risk and hopefully do well. You know a lot of stuff changes hands without the benefit of your watchful eye overseeing the transactions. Do you wear a SuperSuit ?

I am sure the OP's CL ad isnt helped by the fact there are no pictures to show condition, nor mention of the modicifations he's done, nor links to reviews or specs....

OP, post pictures in your CL ad and specify what modifications you have made and if you have pictures to show they have been made. You will get a buyer quicker that way. Also post links to the SDA information found here: http://polksda.com/sdasrs2.shtml

I e-mailed him a month or two ago, and told him to provide some details--blade/blade, or pin/blade.

Never got a response, and he never took the hint.

I don't think he wants to sell them very much.

Yeah, sorry but, there are some small minded ogres on here. They are for the most part, the old guard, and generally hostile to newcomers. I truly believe that they'd have liked CP to become a closed society 2 or 3 years after it's founding. There is a hard and fast rule that no one may advertise items for sale until they've reached 100 posts, this is good and bad IMO. Some will post a rapid series of meaningless 1-line posts to race to the magic 100 number so that they can "dump" some item in the Flea Market in hopes of a quick sale. This kind of defeats the logic of the 100 post requirement as I see it, as well as the "spirit" of it's intent. However.........I think that an honest person who's intent is to merely make Polk speakers available to Polk fans at a fair price is a friendly gesture and should not be viewed as an unscrupulous interloper determined to bring down the temple walls! Feedback rating is great....to a point, there've been some bad deals right here in River City done by some "respected" long-time members. Another site has what I consider a workable alternative which is a section where newbies are permitted to list their items for sale with a clear "caveat emptor" advisory to potential buyers. When you get right down to it, just how dastardly can someone be if they offer an in their home audition before accepting even one thin dime for the speakers/gear. Extinguish the torches good townspeople....no beast be here.

    9) Forum rules & guidelines are not up for debate. This is not a democracy, but rather a private forum owned by Polk Audio. Anyone openly debating the rules we have set in place will be removed.

    Go get em John!!!

If you haven't heard em, you have come close since you owned and own the bigger brothers at one time or another. Or is room still an issue?

That's a steal!...if they're ok and have a cable but the cable is secondary.

I think my SDA days are over... I am digging the sound I get from my Magnepan MG-20's. I would be happy to check them out for a fellow polkie however, and Doug down in SanDiego might need them for his sda collection.

I do not know what details you need to be able to give me a rough estimate on value . I state that they in original condition with the exception of dynamat and mooretite. I tried to add my CL add for the pictures and was unable. This was posted strictly to gain knowledge of value . In no ways an ad for sale. Nothing in the post refers to a sales offer . These speakers were difficult for me to purchase a year ago because so little info on value is out there on google . The first page has someone talking about a score from Goodwill for a couple hundred bucks. After that nothing about prices. If people could just answer the question you will be adding valuable info for future buyers and sellers of this speaker. The speakers sold yesterday for $500 .

While F1 may be a bit of a curmudgeon......he is a known quantity. I mean, you don't have to be very intuitive to see where he's coming from. Second, the rules of the FM weren't established on a whim. The post count is there for a reason. There are any number of avenues to sell gear online and the intent is that the FM isn't supposed to be a direct competitor for craigslist or audiogon.

You know, F1 and guys like him have dispensed a LOT of free advice, labor and gear so the notion that he and others like him are these ogres that want the forum all to themselves and make all the rules and so forth is a pantload. It's guys like F1 and others that BUILT this forum into the best audio forum on the internet. SOMEHOW, the participation on this forum has skyrocketed. Lots of new members and a very high participation rate. This didn't happen by accident. One of the ways, is that a conscious decision was made to discourage the one-post sale wonders. It goes against the sense of community that is what the forum is about. As I said, there are more than enough other online outlets to dump gear.

Now, what I would say is that if you don't like how the forum is....stick around for a decade or so, host a PF or two and build the culture. If you do, perhaps you would understand why some of us are so passionate about it and take it very personally.

As to the OP, don't take this the wrong way but I've seen a thousand people make there first post a thread about 'how much are my speakers worth". This is, without exception, by people looking to sell a pair of speakers. I don't mean this as an insult but this forum is a resource for people who are passionate about audio in general and Polk in particular.....not so much as a resource for those looking to turn a buck.

I mean, you've got an offer for 400, you are simply looking to see if you can hold out and make more. I'm a free market capitalist, I have nothing against that, however, again, if you think about it you will see why we actively discourage that sort of thing here.
