I just got a Technics 1200mk2 turntable so I am retiring my wife's old Gemini xl500. I got the record cleaning kit online for $80 and it works good, but I wanted to have a record cleaning machine. The Gemini is a direct drive dj tt but I am free to do what I want with it now. I've researched online, but there is so much info but not much in cohesive information for a record cleaning machine that can be used at home. I know I'll use a canister vacuum which I have, but what else do I need? Do I maintain power to the table or is it just to be manually turned?
Where do I get the parts, and what parts do I need to get?
When I returned from the Navy I found most of my albums had been mistreated by my messy sister, gdblessher, and my wife is always messy so her records are just as bad, or most of them. I washed them with the spin-clean and the water was pretty filthy. I am meticulous about certain things, so I want to maintain as well as initially clean the records which is why I want something like a rcm for convenience. I keep my sunglasses and car windows and house windows clean, and I never ever ever touch the underneath of my cd's or place them down on anything but jewel cases. My records will be in the same category.
I read some posts so I know at least one of you have made one (TFLF). I know I'll get some good help here so I'll thank you in advance! Thanks!

A couple issues would be torque and speed. Torque for scrubbing while turning slowly. If the platter spins too fast, you might centrifuge the cleaning solution/rinse water off, but a vacuum might not get it all. Is your cannister a dry or wet vacuum? If dry, you would want a chamber to seperate the water so it doesn't get into the dry vac bag.
I use an old turntable to manually scrub or steam real dirty LP's I pick up, turning the platter by hand. I have a Nitty Gritty to vacuum them off.
