Peak gusts of 80 mph and rain. We get these 6 or 7 times per year. I'm glad I don't have to commute any more :^ /

HIGH WIND WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM PDT THIS EVENING FOR THE NORTH AND CENTRAL OREGON COASTS...

THE HIGH WIND WARNING IS NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM PDT THIS EVENING.

* WINDS: PEAK GUSTS EXPECTED TO BE NEAR 80 MPH ON THE CENTRAL OREGON COAST NEAR HEADLANDS AND BEACHES... AND 60 TO 70 MPH IN COASTAL COMMUNITIES.

Where we are is considered "near headlands and beaches". We are about 200 ft up and about 1200 yds from the shore and facing directly into the winds with absolutely nothing to block them. Occasionally winds will reach peak gusts well over 100 mph.

It's a little breezy up here in Porkland... Typical grey and rainy day.. They say a chance for snow in the morning.. Hopefully we will get some so I can laugh at all the idiots who go bonkers when so much as a single snowflake come down.

High winds down here in Southern Oregon too. Forecast says 4-6 inches of snow coming tonight- I'm at 3500' elevation.

I'm soo done with Winter and I'm ready for the Spring yesterday!

Seems as though the front has finally passed the west side of Portland. The winds have died off and the driving rain is now just a sprinkle. Good thing as I'd hate to lose the 130ft Douglas Fir that provides the afternoon shade during the summer.

I wish I were there! NO kidding. Eventually things will simmer down and I could enjoy the Oregon coast. We visited Smith River, CA a few years ago and crossed over into Oregon a few times and visited Harris Beach. What a state. Just beautiful. We spent most of our time in Jedediah State Park hiking the redwoods in CA but we definitely want to go back to Oregon.

Cool! We have some friends that live in Fort Dick area just a couple hundred ft from the Smith River. Last time we visited we checked out Jedediah St Park. Pretty awesome.
BTW, now it's snowing and no wind whatsoever :^ /

Just be thankful it didn't match the Columbus Day storm. I miss seeing the waves come in during a big storm.

It was windy in Salem yesterday. There were 2 big trees that came down in Salem yesterday. One in West Salem came down on someone's house unfortunately. It also pulled down the power lines and took out a transformer. There were about 800 people without power for about 5 hours. It's snowing right now, but definately not sticking. Hopefully the wind doesn't return. I'm with Ern Dog and hope spring doesn't hold off much longer. Also, I hope we don't have spring all summer as we did last year. I like it hot!

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

I don't know man. I'm not a big wind fan. I think if I would have known exactly what it was like I might have looked elsewhere. We made 4 or 5 trips up here before we committed and didn't see much. However, on a nice day you can't beat it (see pics). Also a couple pics of the snow we got last night.

Yep.....I'd have to have at least forest or mountains or even the right body of water (Puget Sound?).
