Power Conditioners

Hi All.... I was looking at some power conditioners while my system is in shut-down mode. My favorite right now is the Belkin Pureav pf60. It seems like it would do everything I would want it to do, what with assignable banks and delays and such. The only problem I see with it is the lack of RJ-45 jacks for the ethernet, It seems that the newer models have it, although I can't see them justify the added expense.....considering I'm probably going to use a switch to split my network.

So....Are these worth the cost? I saw several that would probably do what I want.... from $50 on up to $2000, with names like Adcom, Rotel, Paramax. Furman, and others. Are there any major differences between them, do I really need one (I'm positive it wouldn't hurt) , or are they all a variation of Snake Oil....

Any Thoughts appreciated.. as always..

I bought a APC H15 just to give me peace of mind. It has gone off a couple times when the power has gone off for a quick second or two and also helped with regulating voltage when it is either too high (hasnt happened) or when it drops (like when I use the vaccum).

One of the main differences between the models will be some have voltage regulation, some dont. They might have more or less assignable banks and better filters installed.

Personally the belkin is good, however I decided to spend the extra cash just for the voltage regulation aspect of the APC H15. Do I really need it? Not sure as I didnt notice any better picture quality or sound, but considering the price of all my gear, and knowing its being protected, I think its worth it.

P.S. I wish I had jumped on the APC S15 (which is the H15 + battery backup) from Vanns when I had the chance.

I have the PF60 and like it, but I think the APC15 is likely a better unit.

Well.. after a bit of looking.... I went with the Belkin because I think it will look better with my set-up. Not very scientific, but as long as it gets the job done.

    Thanks Much for the advice....

    Happy Listening...
