Hey guys. i currently have a csi a6, rti a3's and have a pair of fxi a6's on the way. I need to upgrade my receiver and i was wondering if you can give me any ideas. I am hoping to add on a pair of rti a7's later. So i was thinking of a 7.1 set up with a av receiver with pre outs so i could add an amp latter when i have to. Any suggestions?

Hey Fonso, I'm very new into this electronic world and learning all the time (hopefully). I'm still with my original receiver choice at just two years.
I feel that I made a great choice, and even though I didn't have the help of this forum at the time, I did an exhaustive search, first looking at what brands and models fit into my budget, and then the massive comparison and review process began.
What I ended up doing was going for the most bang for buck item, and at that time, IMO the Onkyo 807 couldn't be matched for price point vs feature and performance.
Ironically enough, due to lack of experience and ignorance, I knowingly got a receiver with pre-outs but seriously doubted I'd ever have a need for them, pre-outs for me was on the bottom of the list. Man am I glad my AVR has pre-outs.
Back to long story short, my "suggestion" would be to gather your budget first, then see which AVR's fit into that budget, then start your comparison.
Once you have it whittled down to a couple of units, I'm sure the board of professionals here can guide you off that cliff.Source: BRP Panasonic UB9000, CDP Emotiva ERC3 - Display: LG OLED EVO 83 C3 - Pre/Pro: Marantz 8802A - Amplification: Emotiva XPA-DR3, XPA-2 x 2, XPA-6, Speakers, Mains/2ch-Focal Kanta No2's, C-LSiM706, S-702F/X, RS-RTiA9's, WS-RTiA9's, FH-RTiA3's, Subs - Epik Empire x 2

For av recievers it always boils down to Pioneer Elite or Onkyo. Pick one and be happy. Do a search and you will see.

There are plenty of good choices for those speakers. They are not hard to drive, so just about any receiver will drive them adequately. It's more or less impossible to go wrong. A few will drive them brilliantly without an amplifier (but those will also have pre-outs anyway). Choose your budget, from $100 (used) to $500 (new or used) to $1000 and beyond. There are lot's of options, from private sales on craigslist.org, to reputable eBay stores (including new or refurbished models with warranty), to the Club Polk Flea Market, to Internet retailers and street retail outlets.
Decide if you need HDMI or not. Very capable receivers that sold originally for over $1000 will now sell used for less than $500 because they don't have HDMI. Decide what bells & whistles you want and/or need. Decide on your budget. Then you can narrow down your options.
If you just want a basic, good receiver, this new Yamaha is currently half price from its M.S.R.P. of $650 (free shipping and full warranty) and it does have both HDMI and pre-outs, as well as a few other useful features:

Think I would probably stay away from the newer Onkyo's. Read a while back that Accu-eq doesn't calibrate the front 2 speakers. Probably go with an older model that used Audyssey for calibration.
If 4K content is important, than you'll need the newest versions with HDMI-2.0a and HDCP 2.2. If that isn't important go with an older model.
May want to also tell us what you'll be using it for. For instance if music is important, as well as movies, I'd recommend a Marantz. On the other hand if you will be watching mostly movies, I would probably look at Yamaha.
Then again, the higher end Pioneers will be able to drive the A 7's better than any reasonably priced AVR out there.
Just saying a little more information will get you better advice. How much music, gaming, movies/tv use do you normally use your system for. -

I have about the same setup of speakers that you have but then I have the rtia9. I recently upgraded from a denon 3808ci to a yamaha cxa5000 paired with an adcom gfa7000. You can't really go wrong with either setup. I loved the denon but the yamaha with the adcom is in a league of its own.Epson 3020 projector. Da Lite screen. Oppo 103. Yamaha CXA5000. B&K 7250ii. Having speakers powered by a dedicated power source will always trump a receiver by itself.
Make sure whatever receiver you get has preouts to add a separate amp.
