Hello.
I have a pair of Monitor 50 and I really like them. Now my plan is to add some speakers (center, surround, sub) to make an 5:1 system. When I look on this site about Monitor 50 it seems like the ones that Polk recomend as complements no longer exist? My last system was Bose and maybe I can't reache the same sound this way, but it's also a question of space. Im living in Sweden so sorry if the there is some missing in the writing. Hope You understand anyway

Hi, no problem, your message is quite easy to understand.

So... Well, I think the best "first move" would be to try to get a center channel, followed by a subwoofer. For the center channel, I think it may be harder to get older Polk Stuff in Sweden, so you might try to look at a Polk TSi CS20 center channel: the TSi line is the "new" Monitor line, so it is timbre matched (you can mix up TSi and Monitor speakers and still achieve the same sound, overall). The only drawback is that the TSi line is quite pricier, and that their look is different form the Monitor series. As for the subwoofer, you can get anyone you want : It is not important to pair your speakers with a Polk sub. Just for an information, Polk sub are not that great in my opinion (you can have better things out there for the same money, or a little bit more).

And... it all depends on the specific Bose model, but you can probably achieve a good sound with those Monitor, expecially for Home Theater.

    Thank's alot for the answer.
Yes You'r right, it's hard to find Polk in Sweden (even new ones), and I saw that all subwoofers from Polk isn't availible in 220-230volt.
Should it be a bad choice to add with older speakers (CS2 center, Monitor 30 or 40)? The good thing for me is that they are in the same cherry look as my Monitor 50.

Do you have access to Newegg in Sweden? That's where I would start if it's possible. I'd do the 40's (30's if size is an issue) and the CS2 is an excellent match.

Well, going for CS2 center and Monitor 30/40 would be the best choice for homogeinity purpose (everything would look the same, and have the same sound timbre or "sound color"), as you already have a pair of Monitor 50.

You can get any subwoofer you want, really, as long as it has the correct current plug and voltage.

+1, I run an M-70 system and have advised others with M-50s up front to spend the extra money and go BIG on the center.

That means a CS2 if you can find it, or if not, the newer CS20. This channel carries up to half of all the info on a surround soundtrack. So you need something that can handle that.

As for the rest either M-30s or 40s can handle surround duties depending on how much space you have available.

As for the sub. Depends on what you want to spend. Find something with 300-500 watts continuous that has a low around 25hz or less, like Polk's DSW 660. That system will do you for a while.

The sub you can keep when and if you upgrade your fronts.

    Good Luck!

M series is mostly out of production except for some new stock being fed to newegg.com

It's been replaced by the TSI series. So maybe you should look for that. See the Products menu above.

The TSI-300 is the New M-50
    TSI-400 is the new M-60
    TSI-500 new M-70

CS20 is the new CS2 (Actually there are some differences more than cosmetic in the new series, but it's still a very close match for what you have in your M50s)

    TSI-200 = M-40
    TSI-100 = M-30

As to the other question. The Blackstone series is the new series of Polk surrounds and an "excellent" choice for surrounds--a step up from the older Polk surrounds.

Oh, and, Welcome to Club Polk!

    Me again

Anyone who have experience in TL250 acc to Harman Kardon HKTS 30WQ? The reason for the question is that in Sweden they are in the same price, but the HK includes asubwoofer. I have neder listened to any of them, but I have a stupid love for Polk.

Try amazon.com. I just got a TL2600 set for $499. You can get a TL250 set for just under $450.

I paired mine with a Yamaha RX-A710BL. Still debating on going from 5.1 to 7.1 with two more TL2's.
