Integra DTR-7.3, just bought used, question on volumes

Recently bought a used Integra DTR-7.3 receiver 100w 7.1 to replace my Onkyo TX-SR502 75w 6.1. My Onkyo works fine I just wanted a few more watts and what I hope is a bit cleaner power from the Integra.
So I hook everything up last night, but when turning it up I can go to 50 volume (max 100) with no problem at all. On my Onkyo if I went to 50 volume (max 75) it was almost too loud. Shouldn't the 50 on the 75w recvr be approx the same as 50 on the 100w recvr?
50/100 = 50% power on a 100 watt receiver so this = 50 watts and 50/75 is 66% power on 75w so this = 50 watts? Am I being too simplistic?
I know the Integra has some volume adjustments that can be made for various inputs and maybe they were set by the old owner and I needed to adjust them. I hoped that's all it was, but when going home for lunch today I checked the volume settings, they're all flat at 0. I put in a DVD to test it and turned the volume to 60 which provided a loud enough HT sound but still felt like I would and could turn it even higher without it being too loud. I'm a bit weirded out by having to turn it up so high to get acceptable volumes.
Is there someone here who owns or has owned the Integra line and this is normal? I just don't understand how I have to turn it up so much to get the same volume levels out of the speakers with a more powerful receiver.
Am I missing something or just uninformed, ignorant or all of the above? lol
Thanks.

OK, thank you.
When I came home this evening the wife had a Direct TV music channel going and the receiver volume was on 70 and it wasn't loud, at least not what I consider loud.
I turned it down to 50 and it sounded like my old receiver on 15 volume, it was pathetic.
On a best friends advice, I then set the Intelli Volume to + 5 db on all inputs and that helped, but still not what I expected. Maybe I'll go all in and set to +10db on all inputs (that I use) just to be sure. Still seems weird to me to have to do this though.
Anyway, thanks for your input. -
Does it have an automatic setup function? Have you set all the levels, and distances?AVR: Onkyo Tx-NR808

If it does have auto setup I haven't used it or tried to. I know I can set the levels to all speakers individually, which I haven't done yet, but I did set the inputs to +10db so maybe that'll help some more.
Last night Stevie Ray came on later on the DTV music channel and the wife turned it way up (with +5db input setup and in stereo mode), it was loud and when I looked at the volume level it was 95, which seems crazy to me if 100 is the highest it goes. Didn't seem strained though, was clean sounding.
Still having a hard time wrapping my head around the volume level required for loud music, maybe it's just me.
It's actually louder when running in surround mode, watched a movie and had it at 60 and it was a nice level, no way we could have gone to 95 I don't believe. Anyway....
Thanks. -
You need to understand that the volume control is acually attenuating or reducing the output of the source. So it is going to be different on different stereos. You need to do the calibration setup for the surround but on direct stereo it doesnt matter. The stereo will put out max power at 0 and then you turn it down from there. But with some preamps that isnt even correct. So what I am saying is that it doesnt matter where the volume is set compared to your old stereo. "Just set it to 11" and be happy. I would also suggest a factory reset on the unit, and starting from scratch on the setup.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!
