Lean Fine Textured Beef

Ammonia, citric acid... How much of it actually makes it into the finished product? Doesn't smell or taste like ammonia, obviously. It came from the cow, so it's still beef.
Seriously. You've all heard about the acceptable limits set by the FDA for rodent hairs and insect fragments in peanut butter. How is any of that acceptable? But do you still eat peanut butter?
This "pink slime" thing is just more of that nonsense. If they hadn't given it the nickname "pink slime," we wouldn't be talking about it right now.
You can't count everything that comes from a cow as beef. You consider snouts, hoofs, beef ? Normally we consider the flesh of an animal the meat.
FDA, as most are aware, sets standards for contamination in all food processing, but those standards can be manipulated by big money. Fda can't even inspect beef properly. They also take steps to shut down organic farmers. For me anyway, it comes down to credability, and an angency so easily manipulated by big money has none in my book.
Bottom line here is only you are responsible for what goes in your mouth. The key here is having a choice in that regard, but choice is being taken away slowly. Having a choice, empowers you the consumer. Takening away choice empowers government and big corporations. You decide which is best.HT SYSTEM-

[QUOTE=dagame27;1739652As it is, prices are soaring due to product shortages, as demand cannot be met. The world's population is growing and I don't think it wise to waste perfectly acceptable food sources.[/QUOTE]
Prices are soaring due to the value of your dollar, and excessive regulations my friend, not because of any food shortage. Whats considered an "acceptable food source" could be up for debate too.
Another point of contention is our bodies are simply not built to run on processed foods. Probably more so the Hunter and gatherer type of foods. I'm a firm believer in food having alot to do with disease and illnesses in todays society. I'm not talking the occasional twinkie or chocolate cake either. A lifetime of eating process foods. Look at anything in your kitchen, try and find something without added chemicals or man made additives.HT SYSTEM-

It's a bit of both. The weakened dollar results in increased exports and reduced imports. However, the world's population is far too big for the amount of food grown. Between Europe fighting the use of GMO's and the U.S. fighting issues such as the one in this thread, there is the potential for decreased efficiencies.ChrisPreamp: Anthem Pre 2L (Jan-Phillips Green) Processor: Marantz SR7012 Amp: B&K 200.5Streaming: Bluesound Node 2IDAC: Eastern Electric Minimax Plus4K Bluray: Panasonic UB820Mains: Von Schweikert VR2Center: Von Schweikert LCR15 Subs: 2 SVS Sb13 Ultra (HT Only) Analysis Plus Cables -

So why does the life expectancy in the US continue to rise? -
I recall somewhere someone claiming the worlds entire population could fit in the state of Texas. Makes a pretty good visual, and over population doesn't seem to be that much of a concern when looked at like that.
Consumer prices have a varrying degree of all things involved. I think we tend to create the problems more so than try and solve them.HT SYSTEM-

Couldn't it be that those same medical advances allow us to detect disease we never could before, even though they have been here all along? -

Absolutely.....by the same token, different lifestyles, food sources played a more important role in overall health imho. People used to die early from more common diseases and illnesses such as flu, heart disease, diabetes, cancer, different viruses, that today we can identify early and extend life. Now as an example, take peanut allergies today. I think even a hundred years ago if a kid came close to a peanut and started going into convulsions, they could have figured that one out without medical advances.HT SYSTEM-
