SDA interconnect cable question

I have seen many posts on the forum regarding the SDA interconnect. The debate I am having is that I have seen some SDA mods where they replaced the binding posts with CARDAS and in the case of one particular CRS+ mod, the interconnect jack as well.
The question is...I am assuming since a single speaker wire will give you only a single conductor, that the pin is wired internally to the binding post and the blade is not (or just connected to the ground as per the original design)
I have seen many references and debates whether or not the "blade" is used for anything more than a stability for the pin or is actually connected, which we have seen that it is.
The CRS+ mod I am referring to is DarqueKnights awesome 4.1TL CRS+ mod, he has a CARDAS connector for the interconnect jack and using a nice custom 12AWG cable that appears to have just a spade connector on each end.
I have referenced the link to the forum post and some images below.

With the standard pin/blade cable the pin is only wired, with the AI-1 SDA cable the blade side is grounded to the blade side and then to the negative binding post behind the the binding post cup.
But yes if one is building their own SDA cable the pin is all that is needed, and that is why you only see one binding post for this mod.. -
Thank you for the info.SDA SRS 3.1TL, Adcom GFP710 (preamp), GFA5400 amplifier, Pro-Ject TT

Unlike a blade/blade SDA interconnect, which has--and uses--two conductors.
