    Most any ADS sound amazing.

I don't know about the price of these but somebody should know the going rate. I've only seen one pair in person and they were huge and I believe I heard them too. They are alot bigger than you think!

Go check them out if nothing else except to hear their sound. Maybe buy them too.

The AR's I have never heard. I had a pair and thru them away because of speaker surround rot. BIG MISTAKE now that I know. I paid 4.00 for them to.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

The L1230s are my main 2 channel listen. They do so many things well that I rarely switch them out with my other towers in the room (LSi15s, and SDA1Cs).Those for sale have been for sale due to the higher than normal pricing. I guess they would be worth the asking price if no other pair were available anywhere near home. You should be able to find a pair for around $500/pr. if you remain patient.
I think I won mine on that big auction site as the sole bidder for 3 bills a few years ago.

I just sold a virtually perfect pair of A/D/S L-1230's for $450 with the original boxes and packing material.

The buyer had to promise to give me right of first refusal if he ever decided to sell them.

    That price seems pretty high.

Price seems a bit crazy to me. I know they are semi rare but better prices can be had.

All of his prices are way high. I can't imagine he will even get half what he's asking.

Is ADS still around? Had a pair of their bookshelf speakers 30 years ago. Nice sounding.

Yeah, those prices are on the "high" side. But all three speakers are worth having or at least hearing.

Classic ARs and tower ADS. How can you go wrong? As said above, those ADSs can do 'no' wrong. I've only heard a couple of models and I own a largish ADS bookshelf. They never sound "bad" regardless of what "powers" them which, to me, is one of the highest achievements that a speaker maker can aim for. When you can put together something that just sounds "good" and the buyer doesn't have to spend half his life **** around with some "ever elusive" synergy, you've done something wonderful in the world of audio!

    Get some, you'll like them!

You almost can't go wrong with used A/D/S speakers.

I don't think you will find new speakers with this kind of sound and build quality for $1000.

The asking price is probably 2X too high. They will probably sit there for a while. When I offerred my identical set on Milwaukee CL for $500 they sat for a while and I sold them for $450. I would wait the guy out. The price will probably come down if the guy is serious about selling. But someone with a lot of money who just has to have them may scoop them up in the meantime.

Good luck. If you end up with them you will love them. Incredibly detailed. Even though they are giant and heavy, you may want to add a "fast" subwoofer to supplement the bass. They don't require a lot of power.
