Ebay question.....

So I bought some stuff from a seller on Ebay.
They where not what was pictured and a totally different design.
I opened a case against him, and he is offering a full refund after I ship them back on my dime.

My question, do you think delivery confirmation would be enough to prove he received them back, or should I do "signature required"?

Any other suggestions?

To the best of my knowledge, eBay Buyer Protection considers proof of shipment sufficient for refunds, but there may be an amount above which a signature may be required. A tracking number will suffice in that case. You should also get a refund of any initial shipping charges under those terms, but I think you must pay return shipping.

I don't get why the buyer needs to pick up any shipping but i guess that's the way they do it.

Probably to avoid frivolous claims. Credit card protection employs similar conditions, if I'm not mistaken.

The auction was "Free Shipping", so that may or may not have something to do with it.

If the dispute is resolved by Ebay I don't believe the buyer has to pay shipping. If you reread the OP, the seller agreed to take the merchandise back after he opened a claim, Ebay hasn't resolved the claim yet. The seller is asking him to pay the return shipping, not Ebay.

Don't close the dispute with Ebay until everything is a done deal.

How does eBay Buyer Protection work?
If you don't receive an item you purchased, or if it's not as described, you can use the Resolution Center to resolve your problem. In most of these cases, we cover the purchase price plus original shipping.

The key being the resolution center hasn't resolved the problem yet. The seller is working it out with the buyer before ebay makes a ruling which typically takes a couple weeks.

The seller is offering full refund + original shipping which was free, so I guess I have no choice but to pay shipping, which should not be that much.
