that's a neat database, interesting that Adele's 21 is heavily compressed as a CD but the Vinyl is fairly respectable. funny too to see the old AC/DC stuff with lots of Dynamic Range and then you can easily see when the loudness wars started hitting..

It's funny to see Metallica near the top and bottom.

I'm glad the vast majority of my CD's were bought in the early/mid 80's.

There is some irony on that list: Saxon has DR, but almost the entire Yes catalogue,(on HDCD no less), doesn't:confused:

Hopefully he'll re-organize it alphabetically, making it easier to navigate.

Thanks for posting (or re-posting I guess). I missed it first time around.

Yea I hope those are objective/measured, not subjective. I once posted screen captures of the horrible clipping in the Jeff Beck Emotion and Commotion CD, and some time later someone posted in a different thread what an excellent recording they thought it was. I don't know how the "loudness" trend got started and spread, but I'm sure some multi-million-dollar marketing/advertising firm had a big hand in the phoney research that people liked the compressed/louder music better, others read the phoney research and passed it to others, etc, etc, and it becomes misguided industry practice because no one bothered to question it along the way.

My favorite tracks from Enya - The Celts and Watermark score from 12 to 15.

    No wonder they sound great.
