....faster and faster....as the UNIVERSE expands.....so do we. I long for the good OLE days.

When we actually knew our neighbors and talked to them face to face. Long ago and far away.

What will be the NEXT new THING??? Transporters and Time Travel....I can only HOPE.

I know my neighbors, and talk to them almost daily. Nicest folks I've ever met, and much better than any neighbors than I ever had back in the "good ole days".

I talk to neighbors, highly overrated. I'd rather not have any.

I have great neighbors, but also consider myself lucky. In other neighborhoods I lived in, you'd wave to people and they looked at you like you were an ax murderer or somethin'.

People stay out of my business and I stay out of theirs. Especially with the crap that goes on here, some neighbors I would rather not know based on observations...

Thanks for the link! I know my neighbors and talk to them face to face, but there's quite a distance between our homes, so it's not very frequent.

Well, let's see. One of my neighbors is the college librarian so we do know her. On my other side I have an absentee landlord who has a building with two apartments in it; the turnover is almost yearly in terms of who is renting the two spaces? On the other side of the street we have a kind of extended family that includes many generations living together. Even though they really don't make much in the way of a big income they survive and sport an 8' x 12' Ron Paul for 2012 sign on their lawn. To their left, a smaller family with a Prius that looks a little like my wife's (they did notice that we were gone for a year when we lived in China '09-'10).

We're not particularly close to any of our neighbors, but certainly friendly.

Back to the link. Does this mean that they will be able to expand band-width and rate on non-fiber optic lines like "mine". Because there is NO way we're going to get any faster speeds than our 4-5 mbps through our normal cable lines up here? And even though I pay around 135 a month for HDTV and internet services--it will be a cold day in hell when someone decides it's worth it to install fiber-optic lines up here! I guess there's NO money in that. Not even if they "doubled" my fees to 270?

I can't wait for teleporters. Getting in the car and driving for 4 hours to get somewhere fun is overrated. I don't mind the drive there, but the usually-hungover drive home sucks. lol

Why don't you straighten up that circus/zoo/thrift shop place of yours, and maybe your neighbors WILL want to know and talk to you.

And if they don't, you kick around enough of that rubble you got laying around and I'll bet you come up with a couple Japanese soldiers that don't know the war is over. You can talk to them.

I talk to my neighbors weekly out here in Japan. Even have them house sit when I'm traveling. I often times repay them with American Beer (MGD), and good ole' American food from the base grocery store ( commissary).

I live in a pretty remote area, my nearest neighbor is 3 1/2 miles away, but I consider neighbors that live 20 miles away friends ( although they are only 6 houses down LOL). This is really a tight knit community. I know if something happened and I wasn't able to make it home for a month the dogs, cat and horses would be taken care of and I wouldn't have to worry about anything with just one phone call. Nothing like having good friends as neighbors!
