Would like some advice on how to set up my surround speakers

Hi everyone, I have a quick question about which I would like some advice. I have polk monitor 40's as surround speakers but I'm not sure how I should set them up. I am thinking of wall mounting with the pinpoint AM40 mounts:

However, I'm not sure if wall mounting is the best solution for my set up. I attached a few pictures of my living room below. It seems to me that the left side of the couch would be fine but I don't know about the right side with the doorway right there. Would it be alright to wall mount it basically in the same position it is now on the end table except higher up? I feel like it would be better if it were a little further away but I guess there aren't too many other options. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much.

I had my M40's mounted up high and wide over the listening area similar to yours. Spreading them out one to the corner and other just inside the door jam sounds like a good idea. Angled down is recommended.

should they be kept at a similar distance from the seating though? Or does it not matter much for the surrounds? The corner on the one side is quite a bit further away from the door on the other. Also, I'll have to check to see where studs are located but I'm not sure if I'll be able to put it all the way over to where the door is

The distance you have now at the sides of the couch are good, if you wanted, you could widen them out a tad bit. Sure, I'd check to see where your studs are and then go from there. Ten to twelve inches out from the edge or the couch is cool, raise them as high as you like. Most likely a couple of feet or so.

Your surrounds don't necessarily need to be equal distance to the listening area. Sure, it would be ideal, but most AVRs have distance settings that you can manually set or the auto-calibration will set it for you.

ok thanks for the help guys! I've heard a couple of different opinions on height for surrounds as well as angling them down vs keeping them straight. If I raise them up just a couple feet to be above the listening level but not all the way up, would I still want to angle them, or is that just if I were to raise them up higher?

2-3' or approx. 6' above your seating ear height is the recommended height positioning. As far as mounting goes, I would suggest trying them in both positions...angled & straight & go with what sounds best to you in your room.

I've always preferred to have mine angled down regardless of distance.
