I don't believe in astrology, but since the planets lined up a few days ago this has been one of the roughest weeks of my life.

My one daughter needed oral srugery, my son injured his knee during baseball tryouts and we see his orthopedic specialist tomorrow, 5 students were shot by another student in nearby Chardon, Ohio and 3 have died, my 49 year old brother-in-law had a massive heart attack and is at the Cleveland Clinic hanging by a thread and one of my best friends died of a heart attack at 46.

As bad as the Monkees were, I was in 1st grade when they hit and they were my favorite band. "The Monkees" was the first LP I ever purchased (still have it!)

    RIP Davy.

It is a sad day. The Monkees did entertain many of us of a certain age and Davy will be missed. I am sorry to hear about your brother-in-law, but he is a the absolute best place he could be. My Father had a massive heart attack 15 years ago and ended up being the oldest recipient of a heart transplant at the time in the US at the Cleveland Clinic. It is an amazing institution for healing.

    PS - I have the album also:sad:

Sad news but life goes on. I guess David Bowie can now go by his real name.

    RIP Mr. Jones

I have to confess... I had the same thought.

Still sad to see that this David Jones has died... he was way too young at 66.

    So long "Daydream Believer". RIP

They were a much better band than people gave them credit. Way to young!

Sad story, RIP Davy. I enjoyed watching the Monkees as a kid, a very trippy show. Definitely a product of its time.

Loved the Monkees. They had a great team of song writers behind them (Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart) and great studio musicians playing on their records, though I think the boys in the band did the vocals.

Their 1st album was their best. RIP Davey!

I can say, without shame, I saw them in concert. Mid-80's, IIRC, it was the Northshore Music Circus, in Beverly, MA.
Good show, with a lot of self deprecating schtick thrown in.
At one point, Davey was strapping on an acoustic guitar, and Peter walked over and announced " What are you doing? We don't play our own instruments?!"

    Rest in Peace Davey:sad:

Interesting -- I did not know that Mike's mother invented Liquid Paper.

Another tidbit -- I was listening to Linda Ronstadt's Greatest Hits the other night, and noticed that Mike Nesmith had written "Different Drum".
