Anybody have any idea how compressed the music is that is on satellite radio?

    Are we talking dynamic range compression?

    Personally, I find FM radio to use more dynamic range compression than XM Radio.

    One good example is the Jazz channel XM Watercolors. Very good dynamic range, but sounds like MP3.

    FM radio may be able to provide better sound quality, but there is no dynamic range (at least in NYC).

    I think it's about 64kb stream per channel.

    It's a shame that we finally have a meduim for broadcast music, anywhere, that could potentially be very good---and they compress it to death. Grrrrrr.
