I have a little side project I am doing that involves upgrading a stock x-over on a pair of bookshelves. I am looking for the preferred source to buy upgraded caps (Auricaps, SP?) and precision resistors ( 5w, 1 % range). Suggestions welcome and as always thanks in advance. Cheers.

Michael Percy audio carries Mills resistors and Auricaps.

I have bought from Partsconexxion before and there service is pretty good. A friend of mine bought some stuff and specifically asked them to send it USPS which meant no duty tax. They sent it instead, without telling him, UPS and he incurred a large fee after the fact. So if you buy from them be aware this can happen.

Michael Percy Audio is in the US.

Why Auricaps? I use and love them for coupling but they are a bit pricey for x-overs. You can do just as good with other caps that cost less. Just, IMO. But the Auricaps sound very nice.

P.s. If Auricaps are 40% off at Parts Connexion then it might be worth it even if you incur duty fee's from Canada.

    Correction:

Michael Percy audio no longer carries Auricaps. Sonicraft does.

Parts Express does too as I physically picked up some Auricaps on way back from Ricardo's house in Ohio.

On Auricaps - I had read some good things about them here but I am certainly not set on using them. I'll check out the others as well. It looks like I have a lot of options to look into. Again, many thanks to all, you guys never fail to disappoint. Cheers.

That is quite an interesting speaker going down to 24Hz in such a small enclosure and the use of an aluminum dome tweeter. How do you like them?

Update - Placed an order with Partsconnexion and went with the Clarity Cap option. Waiting for the parts to come in the mail. I inquired about any "duty" before I ordered and they assured me there was none. Cheers.

    Hey Nap

Wait until you hear the SM450 modified...

I also highly recommend lining the enclosure with No-Rez...

I could not even listen to those speakers unmodified... They are also my first set of speakers I modified that started it all!! lol

FYI, Madisound also carries ESA's, and shipping is usually cheaper.
