Any LSiM Owners Here Yet?

Curious if anybody had occasion to demo/own a pair of the new M series (705/707) What do you think of them?

From what I read, even the 703 bookshelf can put many "pricier" towers to shame. There is a lot of unofficial reviews here and there for the 703, but I can't find a lot about the towers versions except pre-prod versions review.

Yeah really... quite a shame as I'm sure they are very great speakers. How come there is no pro review yet? Is it because little to no shops actually carry this line?

Anyways, I'm not sure they compare to speakers twice their price, as some people pointed it, but I'm sure they are bargain in their price bracket.

I am in the same situation . Can't find anywhere to hear them but am going to go for it and grab a pair of 707's

I just noticed a pair of 707s offered on eBay with a minimum starting bit of $2,400. The BIN was significantly less than the ~$4,000 MSRP. What I'd really like to hear is how they compare with the A9s or even 15s or even with some "high end" units. I always felt Polk products had an extraordinary price/performance ratio and wondered if this continues to be the case with the 707/705. Time will tell. Right now I'm running a pair of A7s and am extremely impressed with their ability to reproduce deep bass with virtually nil woofer distortion. For the $650 I paid from PolkAudio (refurb), it would be difficult to find a better speaker for the money (IMHO).

If you have a 4 ohm amp, a 950$ pair of LSi15 might be great too. From what I can read, qualitatively, LSiM sound is located between RTi in LSi. What I want to say by that is that it's not laid back like the LSi and it's not bright like the RTi. Many people said it's more detailed than LSi, and that it compares to speakers in higher brackets, but many speakers offer a good value for the money. While I'm probably the only one prefering the LSi aesthetics over the LSiM, I'm sure they are very great speakers by themselves.

The only drawback is that they require high-end gear to really perform well because they are revealing. If you drive a pair of 703 with a 600$ integrate, they might reveal some flaws. IMO, a revealing speaker is an adequate one, as long as it doesn't go into brightness... and as long as you power it adequately with clean power. I'm not saying they need a 2500$ amp to play those towers, but they might need something higher than 1500$ to really shine. As for the bookshelf, it's probably feasible to power them with a good 50w-100w per ch separate/integrated, as long as you don't use a receiver, they'll probably sound good.

The 707's are finicky when it comes to room size/configuration. I had them in two different rooms on the same gear and they sounded completely different in each room. IMO they need a lot more refining before they're ready for someone who wants to take them home and have them sound good regardless of location.

I'd agree - I had a listen when Doug was hosting the 707 demo at his house. I didn't have a chance to hear them in his HT room, but in his 2-channel room (big and spacious), the 707s were polite across the board for performance, and we played with separation and toe-in and they sounded nice, but not enough for me to run out and buy a pair. Would still like to hear the 703s though.

Currently I think I'll remain on my quest for the A9s. I had considered the 15s but the opinions I've gotten have been more mixed than those for the A9 or A7 for that matter. Unfortunately the options to compare among these fine speakers simply don't exist 'round these parts which is really frustating.

Uhm... I don't understand however how the 15s could get mixed opinions, the great majority of reviews are positive, except from people doing poor placement and/or not enough power/wrong impedance amp (what I would call biased or poor reviews). Don't get me wrong, LSi15 aren't some kind of magical or godly speaker, but for the price, you generally can't go wrong except if you already own a pair of very fine speakers.

LSi25, on the other hand, received some kind of mixed reviews because of the powered sub. Some people keep on telling, and it's probably true, that if you're looking at a pair of 25, you should pair a sub with LSi15 and call it a day.

However, those RTiA9/RTiA7 are great towers for their respective price, but I don't think they can achieve the kind of refinement than the LSi15 can offer. RTiA9/RTi12 offers way more bass than LSi15, but LSi15 will be more detailed and smoother, more musical, except if you're a bass fan. Both requires a good amp to really shine: RTiA9/RTi12 will need a 500w 8 ohm amp while the LSi15 will need a 250w 4 ohm amp. Still, we are comparing two different speakers.

Attached are some pictures comparing my LSiM707 and LSi15 sizes. I'm still awaiting the arrival of the LSiM 706c and LSiM 702 F/X's, so no HT listening yet. However I did try some 2-channel via my W4S DAC-2 / W4S STP-SE / W4S ST-1000, and let me tell you I was ecstatic! The LSiM707 brought the game to a whole new level! Its bass beat the LSi15 by a mile, filling my big living room with no muddy issue. I thought the LSi15 was detailed enough, but the LSiM707 raised it way way more. For example, listening to Chris Botti & Shawn Colvin performing "All Would Envy," I can clearly hear the sound of the light touches on cymbals, not blurred or losing completely within the voice and other instruments. And the voice, oh my, so airy and majestic. Yes, the word I need to use to describe the LSiM707 got to be "MAJESTIC"! I lost myself completely in the musical waves for a couple hours Friday night. I felt like I've just got a new girlfriend, guys, and don't tell my wife

About weight, I can easily pick the LSi15 up by myself. LSiM707? Fuhgeddaboudit! It weights over 100lbs :cheesygrin: The build is just magnificent for its price range.

The LSiM's should just about destroy anything Polk has put out in the last 15 years or so.. If I'm wrong then shoot me as I have not had my ears on every Polk speaker but I would say the only what one would call hi-end Polk speakers that I have not had my ears on is the SRT's and the LSi25,s the 25's I don't care if I ever hear them..

I want to get my ears on the LSiM bookies and towers. I would love to sit and listen to the SDA's and 707's side by side in my own home..

I thought about getting 707s but $4k for towers alone woulda been a little irresponsible I do plan on getting 703s later this year to replace my LSi9s though.

That's very interesting. Glad to hear you're enjoying them. So in your opinion is the 707 musically suited as opposed to designed with HT primarily in mind?

I haven't tested the 707's in HT enviroment yet because I'm still waiting for the new center-channel and surround-channel speakers to arrive (and I can't wait because this would allow me to experience my new Integra DHC-80.3 processor's ability, too). Anyway the 707's will be kind of overkill in my HT set because I'm running dual JL subs for lower octaves. I definitely love the 707's for 2-channel listening and definitely believe the upgrade worths much more than its price.

Great pics DMara! I really like those side by side comparisons. Also, am I the only one to think that ebony always shows as a light greyish brown on every pic even if it's darker in reality? I mean, my Ebony almost match perfectly my dark brown furniture. Anyways, good to know that you love it for music, they must be great. :P
