Just a quick post, i pondered and pondered and pondered some more, I'm keeping the Rti70's and returning or selling the Rti150's. Just doesnt fit our bill after all. I know "we" decided on the 150's but the more i listen and think the more i like the 70's for an all around speaker.. The 150's shine with music with no sub, But run on small they sound hollow and tinny.. without sub on large and they still don't sound as loud as the 70's today while listening A & B ing the 2 sets.. back and fourth. Plus the cost of the amps to power them.. screw all that.. we aint rich and with the wonderful SVS this works better for all parties concerned.. Now actually i have the receiver and AMC amp bi-amping the 70's and it sounds great!!! I have never said one sucks or one rocks totally.. been very undecided for a few weeks here that i have had them.. The price and looks bowled me over and now im, back on track!!!! Thank good ness... The 150's do seem to get boomy with some material.. movies they sound good but that is becuase alot of the detail is missed with the action or what not going on, If i could afford it i "may" have kept them for a 2 channel maybe.. But i have future plans of Lsi7's maybe with this AMC, CD and Pre.... that will be to be contunued though.... Thanks for all the help and suggestions and to DOC who once again helped me ponder and decide for myself what was best... and others..

later..

Good on ya, Cliff. The up front cost of the RTi150 might have been extremely low on close-out, but I doubt you envisioned your Integra going into protect mode after you hooked them up. :(

Therein begins your expensive and frustrating journey of external amps and the discovery that even the AMC you bought can't cut it alone on these bad boys and it too shut down.

Above 80 Hz, the only analogy I could think of regarding the SQ difference between the 70's and the 150's was like comparing the RT600i and the RT800i.

When I heard the 150's they were being driven with a small AVR (I think it was a h/k 40 or 50 watt job) and I knew they had a lot more potential with the right amp. The salesman cranked that poor h/k right into audible clipping all the while nodding his head like it sounded great.

This is not a knock against the 150's (I'm sure BS1 will chime in with another "blah, blah, blah" post). They have killer bass few other towers anywhere near their price can match. But they just don't make sense in a high passed application, and in a full range application they still can't beat the 70's paired up with your SVS unless you send about 300-400 watts per side in their direction. Then in would be a close call in total output, but the SVS would still have deeper extension.

FWIW, the 70's might sound better running straight off the AMC than being bi-amped between the Integra and the AMC. Have your tried a direct pre-out connection to the AMC and simply run the 70's bi-wired off the AMC?

LOL.....ya.......I think that if you bi-wired the speaks off the AMC, then the harshness of the Integra would be gone.....

Question now is.......what's the price on the 150's?;)

Ok i just bi-wired the 70's with the AMC amp.. wow what a sound, brightness has almost vanished.. and power. a truer 100 watts go's a long way, The amp powers these great!! unlike the 150's.. no shut downs, protection modes activating. Pure sound, I can actually use the coax from my cd player without it piercing my ears with highs.. Ok that's all for now until i have much more demo time.. I'm ready to have a few and head to dinner.. see yall later

Note: Brett lets stop this bickering back and fourth, we got it out of our systems, now lets end it eh! :)

I have the RT800i's as fronts. biwired too from an Adcom amp... yes Adcom can be bright too. I replaced a few interconnects with those RShack Fusions.. and then reinstalled the metal jumpers. and BAM it kicked it up another notch and brightness is all but gone now. give this a try if you stilll find to much brightness in your system.

    good luck. Al

Thanks, very happy... sometimes we have to try new things and listen for awhile before we change our minds and idea's... a changed mind a week or 2 later doesnt mean your first impressions were false just means you adjusted to the new sound and it just didn't work out, as is the case here..

    Thanks again
