My DIY junk VS Infinity RSIIIa's

Okay, my DIY speakers here have the following drivers. Peerless tweeters, Alesis mids and Elemental Designs woofers. And yeah, Cerwin-Vega XO's. The tweets and mids are in a separate enclosure from the woofer, the bottom mid is not active. I recently redone the XO's in the Infinity's. And they sound SO much better. Components being used are an older model Phillips CDP, Onkyo Integra M504 and a Phase Linear 3000 Series II.
Comparing Rush-Moving Pictures and Donald Fagan-Kamakiriad. The Infinity's have a slight edge with the EMIT's but not too much! Everything else considered I kinda like my DIY's better. And they have a much higher WAF as well. The higher WAF is NOT a deciding factor at all. I am lucky, mine don't make me sell my toys or tell me I can't hoard speakers!
I guess what I am saying is...don't knock the cheap DIY stuff. But then again how highly regarded were/are the Infinity's? Maybe I need to compare them to my Polk's. My DIY's image better while the Infinity's are fairly laid back and kinda disappear in my listening room. Bass wise I can not really tell much difference in the two. I think the DIY's have an edge because they have a little more punch.

Very cool!
Let me know when you're ready to start designing your own crossovers."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche -
Are those the LSi woofers I sold to you?"....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963)

Oh no....those are 12" eD woofers in those cabs. Those LSi woofers are still in line waiting for another project.--Gary--
