I have a pair of SDA's1 hooked up to an Onkyo 575 and I'm concerned about getting a true 5.1 out of the them.
I know that the Onkyo is not enough to push the speakers.........
I have a CS350 for center an Audiosource 100W for a Sub and a crappy set for surround that will be replaced soon(I hope!).
Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Don't turn up the volume much or else bye bye tweeter/receiver(?)

One thing I'll ask before we dive into your 5.1 question, are the SDA's properly setup to begin with?

This means you've take into consideration; the distance between the sidewalls and the speakers, the rear walls and the speakers, the distance between the speakers themselves and the distance between yourself and the speakers.

This also means no toe in or toe out.

Ideally you would want a minimum of 4' between the speakers themselves...6' to 8' sounding best. That distance should also be the same as the distance from the speakers to you. At least 3' or more from the sidewalls, and last but not least anywhere from a few inches to a foot from the rear wall (this impacts bass response).

You will get 2 of the 5.1 out of them. As the above poster said be careful with the volume.

External amp will be a better setup if your AVR has preouts for the mains.

    Hey thanks!
Yes! everything is set up correctly like you mentioned and yes! I know where the limit is....LOL
Like I said, someboby told me that I'm killing the speakers or not getting the best out of them since they are not designed for surround sound..

Thanks for the welcome...Glad to be a part of the forum

Sadly the AVR does not have any preouts not that I know..That's why eventually I would like to get a more powerful AVR.
I will post some pics as soon as I can.

    Thanks for the quick response!
    Glad to be here!
