Have a shot at a Theta Dreadnaught for a very good price, but I have zero knowlege of the brand and it's capabilities. Anyone have experience with them or heard one before?

If its a theta dreadnaught 1 then snag it because it was the was the best one they made as the 2 and 3 models have higher distortion. Every time i read a thread about them on avs its turns into an argument. I got to hear an intrepid and it was nice and the dreadnaught would be even better I would imagine

Theta is a fairly high end manufacturer and has been around for a long time.Vinyl, the final frontier...
Avantgarde horns, 300b tubes, thats the kinda crap I want... -
Meh. Heard a Bryston 9B SST back to back w/ a 5 Channel Theta and I liked the Bryston better. 90 day warranty on the Theta, 20 YEAR on the Bryston. Fully independent power supplies on the Bryston, single transformer on the Theta. The theta does look _really_ sexy compared to the Bryston, but I care more about how my gear sounds.
Also- if you like Carver sound, the Theta is very different.Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19
Gallo Ref AV, Frankengallo Ref 3, LC60i : Bryston 9b SST : Meridian 565
Jordan JX92s : MF X-T100 : Xray v8
Backburner:Krell KAV-300i
