Just got my dcm time windows 3s back from gordon and the boys at audiolab of georgia, great guys, reasonable pricing, and one of the few places left in atlanta to have work done with an emphasis on audio, lots of shops where you can get some soldering done, but these guys care.

Love the sound, the mid bass especially has tightened , but also the "reach" for lack of a better term has greatly improved in these speaks.

Individual sounds are more separated, when loud passages happen, no instruments are pushed out of the way, or shrink.

What i was wondering, will the sound change over time, I know some mods need a break in time to achieve the sound they will eventually have.

Yes, the sound will change over time, and for the better if they selected the right caps.

Timeframes are different for different caps and in the range of from 50 to 300+ hours of musical signal being applied.

yes it does! But it will take time as inspiredsports said it!. I have build many diy amps and to me it takes around a week (10 hrs a day) to hear the difference. and if you like it right away...you will love it after a week!. There are many different caps that will improve or make worse the sound. so We must choose wisely!!! Like for input caps the Wima polyester caps are horrible!.

    50-300 hours of listening huh?

    If i must i must.

These were erse caps, chosen by jamie hauser, with consultation from steve eberbach, the founder and inventor of dcm speakers.

Jamie has done some incredible work on the time windows line, even recreating some of the legendary tw7s from scratch, using modern components, again with input from steve eberbach.

On the avs forum thread, entitled Whatever happened to steve eberbach, his work, as well as my correspondence about my speaks and cap selection can be found.

Good to know things are going to get even better as time goes on,

    thanks guys.

Erse caps are better than what was in there, but of all the caps talked about here on the Forum, they are at the lower end for sound. I am currently using them in the low pass of a pair of Polk's but they wouldn't be my first - fifth choice for the high pass circuit. I suppose the differences are subtle, but once you hear the better sounding caps, it's very hard to go back.

But of course this is IMHO.
"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass Pass Labs XA25 | EE Avant Pre | EE Mini Max Supreme DAC | MIT Shotgun S1 | Pangea AC14SE MKII | Legend L600 | BlueSound Node 3 - Tubes add soul!

I have about 50 hours or so on my Infinity RSIII'a. I replaced the caps with Solen....what I could afford. They seem to be more open so far. First thing I noticed were the EMIT's seemed to come alive and now the bass is better defined. So yeah, I think you will hear a difference.
