Go to a kite store and ask that question.....Seriously.

Are you looking for a single line or a two line kite? I've flown two line kites that are great, and can't fly for s#!t (same with single line kites). A good shop will ask you your experience level and point you towards a slower or faster kite based on your answer.

I used to own property about a 5 min walk from the beach when I live in Washington, and I got pretty handy with my two line (slower) kite.
My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.

I honestly am not sure what I am looking for. I remember flying a single line kite with my dad when I was younger. I do not think he has that anymore.

    HAHA to the other comments.

Stunt kites (two line kites)=active participation

Single line kites pretty much just fly. They're good for sitting and enjoying the weather, listening to tunes, and drinking beer. We used to tie one off to our motorhome when we showed up at our beach property, it was sort of our flag announcing we were there.

I have gone to Newport R.I. which has a kite park. I can't remember the name right now but people come from all over to fly their kites.
As for myself I used a basic kite attached to my fishing pole used for salt water which had 20 lb test. The first time I tried it out I used just the reel but needed to attach the reel to the pole to have a better grip. Holy sheep **** did the kite take off. I was to the end of the spool in no time. Reeling it back in was easy with the reel and can't imagine doing it another way. I have seen huge plastic reels with string for kite flying but I kind of like my approach better
    Oh well.
Good luck and have fun. Its more fun than one may think especially on a beautiful day with semi-naked women around  thats when you have to pay attention to your kite instead of the surroundings

Great prices too. If you can't find one for you, go to Japanese sites.

I have a Razor stunt kite I bought many years ago. Dual lines, carbon fiber rods and is six feet wide. Damn thing will drag you down the beach.

Here's some reading which might help..
