Sad day at youth basketball

So went and watches Jes's nephew play 7 and 8th grade basketball today, and during halftime the coach was trying to start a fight with a guy in the stands over an expired ejection. After the game when the kids were supposed to be doing the sportmanship handshake like, the away coach started to yell at the home coach. Words were exchanged and then the away coach punched the other coach, small scuffle ensued and it ended with an 80 year old man got knocked over and hit is head. Whew. I can't believe the level of sportsmanship at this school district, there are always parents arguing and even screaming at kids on the field and court. This happens at a youth and high school level. What kind of lesson are they trying to teach there kids?? I can't believe how these people are ALLOWED to act at these events, it is a privilege to attend, not a right. I don't care if you have a child in it or ot, if you can't keep your composure, you shouldn't be allowed.

Ugh. I ended up calling and filing a report, maybe the kids ultimate lesson will be learned when there coach is walked out in cuffs for assault. Teach them that this is not the correct way to act. I'll be working on a letter to both schools on crowd control this weekend. This wouldn't have been allowed in my home town.

BTW, I had no partisan in the game, both sides are guilty of being horrible examples to these young adults.

*rant over*

Well, I don't think it's "allowed" anywhere. Unfortunately, these things spiral out of control. The blame always goes to those who have allowed themselves to lose perspective and control. It's like we need security at kids' games nowadays. I've seen my share of it. You couldn't pay me enough to be a referee for any of these "games," such as they are. Sadly, your story doesn't surprise me at all.

HOWEVER, there's a lot of "good" happening out there in the world of youth sports! It's just that the good stories usually don't get the attention they deserve!

I get this way at the guys booth at the Flea market who sells vinyl albums. Why can't people just let me have 1st choice and take whats left? Jerks.............

Those guys at your game who acted such have no life. They should be banned from attending future games. It happens at my kids games at times however it never gets to that level. Mostly parents who do not understand the game fully.

Just found out that the coach that threw the punch stayed at the school running his mouth. Sherriff deputies took him out later, hopefully some of the kids saw and took that as a lesson!

He should've been arrested for assault and battery. Period.

Then the other home coach should go get a lawsuit on his arse for his pain and suffering.

People get away with these acts of violence with no consequences it isn't funny.

Who here has taken a punch and not sued. I'm guilty once. The other time it happened I went to court over it and because of a couple BS and I repeat BS reasons, the judge wanted me to drop the issue. I almost had my head stomped into the pavement! and the judge said I should just drop it. I was an innocent person walking into a store and got muged. I was so poor I couldn't miss but a day of work a month if that so...I had to silenty cuss the friken judge and move on. I had a chance to mug my mugger later on but I passed because I knew I"d BE LOCKED UP sure as I'm typing this.
If I muged the judge like I was, I'd be locked behind bars for 30 years. Gauranteed

I hate to hear about innocent bystanders getting hurt!!!

I hope the older man recovers and other coach goes to jail for a few days at least..
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.
