CD Player

The CD player went out at the gym that my daughter takes gymnastics so I volunteered to find a replacement. Don't need anything fancy would be nice if you could easily select different tracks without going through a sub menu and preferably with a remote. Trying to stay in the $50 to $100 range including shipping.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Was it a single disc player, a 5 disc player, a mega disc player if the listening is not that crucial at the Gym, look at the Craigslist in your area or a pawn shop, was the cd player hooked up to a decent system or was it a boom box type?Home Theater

They had a single disc player connected to a denon AVR ( no boom box) but a 5 disc player would work. I didn't have any luck with craiglist and didn't want to risk a pawn shop.

usually sonystyle stores have open box units within your price range, the local best buy as well. i remember i saw a 5 disc sony cd player in such store for like 40 bucks.

Nearest BB is 80 miles away so with gas and a good meal/drinks I would have more than my budget into it. Was hoping someone had one boxed up seating in a closet needing a new home.

I have a 5 disc Harman Kardon I picked up recently. I wanted the receiver, but this had to be bought with it. Seller didn't have the remote, though. It would definitely be within your budget as long as shipping isn't too bad. I can check the model when I get home and also make sure everything works. Let me know if interested since it has no remote.
Also have a Rotel RCC-955 changer with remote, but it may exceed the budget with shipping. -
Always have something "in stock" :-)
I can send you one from 'the collection' for the cost of postage - PM me if you're interested.
The only problem is that I don't have remotes for most of them.
Probably something like this -
The trickiest part is finding a suitably-sized box! -
HK is an FL8300 from 1996; no remote; functions very well; appears it may not support CDR/MP3 format. PM me if interested.

Get a new, low priced DVD player at Wallyworld that includes a remote control. Amazon will send you a Sony for $29.88 to your door if you avoid going to Wallyworld as much as I do.

Thanks for all of the replies. Sorry it took so long to post back. I am still waiting a response from the coach to make sure the remote is a would lik-e to have or a must. I am going to send pms to verify shipping costs. gbd-the coach said he checked at walmart and did not like the dvd/cd combos they had because it was difficult to jump between tracks.
-
I'd rather it not go in this instance because I don't think it'd be a good fit since I don't have a remote and it might not read those burned CD's. It definitely doesn't support MP3.
Has the coach thought about using an iPod or MP3 player as a source? seems that would be a lot easier and you could find an older gen in that price range.
I know this was brought about by someone else also about supporting MP3. Ok this question is going to show how little I know but if someone burns a cd from a MP3 formated source does the cd player need to support MP3 format? -
Thanks DSkip for the reply. I understand the *should*.

a plain-vanilla, 'redbook' CDP is en route even as I type this - hope it gets the job done!

Thanks mrh, the cdp arrived in great shape (nice packing job). Gave it a test run and everything seemed to be in working order. Hopefully will get hooked up in the gym on Monday.

De nada; hope it's "fit for purpose"!
