Room Treatment Question

I'm going to be doing some serious audio/video work from home in the coming months which is one of the reasons why we're moving so I can have an office. I'm absolutely going to treat my room to get the best audio possible. For now, I'm going to save up for the GIK Room Kit Package #3. My room will be small and is almost exactly the same layout as all of the reference pictures on GIK's website.
While looking at the layouts of each room GIK's website, I noticed all of them have the system set up on the short wall rather than the long wall. This got my curious as to why it's always the recommendation to set up home audio systems on the long wall?
