Hello,
I am planning to buy RTi A9 in a few days. I have read through tons of reviews and almost all of them are very positive. I have auditioned them as well at Frys and they were awesome. My confusion is about the AVR. Almost all the reviews mentioned that these speakers sound better with powerful avr. I have Harman Kardon AVr 3650 at the moment. It is rated at 110 W per channel and it is really good. My question is whether it will be a good match for RTi A9 or not. If someone can comment, that would be a huge help. Thank you in advance.

    Welcome to CP!
While I cannot speak to the A9s other than to say that need a lot of clean power (think external amplification, not avr), I do have a lot of experience with HK avrs, and like them a lot. However, that receiver only weighs 27 pounds, so it is not going to get those A9s anywhere close to their full potential. I have an older HK avr 745 that weighs 51 pounds and only claims to put out 85 wpc (a more honest rating) and while it sounds wonderful and is very powerful, my Audiosource amp three is a huge improvement even with my little sealed bookshelf speakers. If you cannot afford or are not going to get an external amp, then I would suggest getting the A5s and a powered sub with the leftover cash. Otherwise the extra woofers in the A9s will be vastly underutilized and kind of a waste of money IMHO.
    good Luck!
