DSW Pro 550 wl vs DSW Pro 500

I recently purchased DSW Pro 500 but had received DSW Pro 550 wl instead. I do not have intention of using sub in wireless configuration, so would you go through the trouble of returning 550wl to receive the correct speaker?

I am not sure if there is any difference between the two, aside from obvious potential wireless configuration that 550 wl can offer.

Thanks

The 550 has 400 watts, while the 500 only has 200. Good trade

First of all thank you for the reply.

I am curious, where did you get the information about the double wattage? Looking at the specs on polkaudio.com, they both have the same continuous/dynamic power (200/400W)...

Interesting catch. I've often wondered about the "double power" claim. It seems odd to me that they would take 2 identical (for all practical puproses) subs, then make 1 wireless and double the power.

Now you've got me wondering as well. If you look at the tech specs, they are identical. If you read the overview, this is what it says "The Intelligent Digital Amplifier in the new DSWpro550wi effortlessly drives its 10-inch woofer with 400 Watts of continuous power"

So somewhere the info is incorrect. Can anyone here confirm which in fact is the correct number? 400 watts continuous, or dynamic?

the DSW Pro 550wl is everything the old 500 was and more. Why would you want to bother replacing?

Not sure where you guys are getting these numbers from. They are identical subs other then the fact one is wireless and one is wired. Same Frequency range, same continuous power, same dynamic power, same volume. They are also the exact same size and same weight.

I just posted above - if you look at the specs pages, they are listed as the same. If you just read the first page, the overview advertises the 550 as having 400 watts continuous power (then when you click the specs it says 200 watts continuous)

Thank you all for participating in this discussion.

I figure that both of these are the same, where 550wl has an option to be wireless (if additional module is bought). So, all in all, 550wl should be better, but I am just not 100% sure, that is why I am asking you guys.

Also, a bit odd too is the list price. DWSPro 500 is more expensive than 550wl. Yeah, I know it is just $20, and quite often it means nothing, but still why would they sell it for more if it offers less?

I am wondering if it is a quality of electronics inside that makes the difference. Anyone had a chance to look inside?

Yep polk's web page use to say they had double the wattage. I remember seeing them and posting links to it.

I guess it was just a marketing stragety to get people to buy the newer WI versions.
