Having to share my 2 channel/office space with my toddler and wife is finally over. We're moving into a cozy 3 bedroom condo and I'll have my own office/2 channel room! I have a few problems to overcome in this new space and would really appreciate some help thinking through it.

1. It's small. Approx. 9x11

Here is the layout (put this together quickly in photoshop, so it's not exact by any means)

2. SDA-2B's just won't fit.

I mean, the will but they take up to much real estate. I'll have an average size desk and a tall bookshelf to try to fit in there. The CRS+'s may be the way to go but they're even wider than the 2B's.

Where do you think the best place is to set up my desk and 2 channel system? I'll have the CRS+'s on stands and I'll have an audio rack to put my gear on. This is my idea...

What do you guys think?

Idea 2 is the better of the two. How much space is between the bookshelf and the left CRS+?

"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Put your gear in the closet. That will clear up floor space.

2b's take up some floor space but bookshelf speakers on stands take up about as much. I understand the room is small but put the 2b's on the long wall and a couch or chair on the other.

    Should work fine.

Not exactly sure but I'm sure the actual room is a little tighter than the picture.

I had a set up just like idea 2 in my old place using SDA 2A's and it worked out fine. Maybe not ideal but it sounded pretty good

I suggest you use Idea #2 but figure out if you have space between the left wall and the door for book/media storage. Put your audio equipment in the closet and run 14-gauge wire. Another possibility would be to put your desk between the CRS's and your listening chair against that back wall.

    Idea #2!

My room is about that size and cut diag on one end so I am cramped also. I am thinking of purchasing a smaller cabinet for my gear so I can move the polks back toward the wall more. Now they are at least 2 feet from the wall because my cabinet is so stinking big.

Anyways enough of my problems........Idea 2.

I have used a very small listening room for a few different setups. One thing that saved me a ton of space was building a desk in a closet. I cheaped out and just used a couple layers of 1/2" plywood for the top, supported by 2x4s into the studs inside the closet. This allowed me to get rid of the separate computer desk, and I can still shut the bi-fold closet door to hide the computer. Just an idea, might not work at all in your situation (maybe you'll actually need to USE the closet :0)

Idea #2 is the better arrangement. I also like the idea of the audio rack in the closet. Good luck!

    Thanks for chiming in.

Things have changed a little bit in that my 2 channel system is going out and I'm putting more focus on building a solid video editing system with studio monitors. I still plan to lay it out like this using the leftover gear but with a few tweaks.
