I am looking into a alternative to my apple tv and it looks like this is a good candidate. Has anyone had any experience with this and a itunes library? How well does it integrate?

Do a search, a few Polkies have these. Since you have the AppleTV, simply jailbreak it and unleash more features.

I would rather upgrade and potentially get more features such as internal hard drive and able to share it on the network.

Don't know if this matters in your case but WD doesn't support streaming of Amazon Instant Videos.
