Polk Audio 40s with stand or 50s without?

I'm racking my brain here trying to decide what to get for my surrounds.

My options are Monitor 40s with a stand or Monitor 50s as-is.

My dilemma is the height. Ideally, I believe a rear speaker should be anywhere from 2-3 feet above ear level or at least the tweeter at the same level.

Every stand I've found that would work with the 40s is only around 30" tall and my sitting height is around 43". The Monitor 50 sits at right around 43" as a tower.

Neither option apparently is going to be anywhere near 2-3 feet above ear level. Are there any stand anyone that can recommend that are taller/adjustable or should I go with the Monitor 50s and find a way to lift them a bit higher off of the floor (which may look weird)?

I don't want to wall mount so if anyone has any suggestions, please advise.

Well you cant always have ideal, sometimes you simply have what you have. The 50's without stands are much easier to manage. I ran Monitor 60's and R50 towers as surrounds for a long time for the same reason. I now have different surrounds mounted on the wall and while its better its not by any ridiculous margin.

Set it up how you can and enjoy

    My thoughts exactly!!!!!!!

    Welcome to the forum Senzo!!

I have made my own stands for both my 30's and my 40's. That way you can have them any height you want them. I've seen some guys doing 50's as surrounds and lifting them a bit.

I'm currently using my 70's as surrounds and just having them stand as they are and I'm really enjoying them. Never allow yourself to be limited by what you see, as the old saying goes, "where theres a will theres a way". And as EndersShadow said, "Set it up how you can and enjoy"
