PAD4000.4 vs PA 500.4
Pros and Cons of each?
I don't know if I like the terminal connections on the 4000.4. Does it provide a better connection compared to the 500.4's spade terminals?
Can't decide if I should buy a refurb'd 500.4 vs new 4000.4. I've seen the 4000.4 go for like $250 so it seems like a good price, but the build quality doesn't seem as good as the 500.4

A few people (me included) just purchased D4000.4 so I guess first reviews should start coming in about a week or two given that people will have time to install them right away.
Not sure about others but I do currently run PA500.4 so in about 2 weeks I should be able to compare them side by side.

Thanks!
Yeah I'm just getting antsy about getting my new amp installed. Right now I'm having issues with my 500.4 and am trying to get it returned cause it's the eBay refurb'd one. I know I said previously "I can't decide between the two" cause I wanted to avoid talking about my amp anymore cause it's driving me nuts! But I can't- must talk about it! I just feel like I've exhausted it in another forum. I've read people having problems with polks refurbs but I decided to try it anyway not knowing that the 4000.4 was right around the corner to be released. -
AAHHH!!! It's awesome!
Although to be fair, I have never held nor seen nor heard a PA500, so I can't comment on the comparison aspect. And though having HEARD many other amps, the only other I have ever owned was an 800W 2 channel Audiobahn amp, and to compare those two makes no sense. I will say that the 400W (or 300something as the gain is around 9 oclock) now pumping through my 10 Rockford sound uncomparably better than the 800W audiobahn watts ever did (same sub). Cleaner, louder, fuller.
As far as build quality, it does have a plastic front, but it still feels very solid. I'm running 4g cable. They fit the terminals perfectly and the connections are very solid. The unit itself, though small and light, feels very well made. Again I have no "polk" of reference (heh...sorry) but to my eyes and ears this is a great amp. -
I'm going to have to get a 1/0 to 4 awg reducer

I ain't saying it won't fit, but it'll be tight. The 4g went in without any struggle so there is a little room in there. Wouldn't it make more sense to just shave a few strands off the 1/0? Or is that a no-no? (I have no idea)

exalted - Did you receive yours already? D4000.4 comes with 0 gauge adapter.

Sweet thanks for the reviews!
Is the connection better if there is no connectors (spade, ring, etc.), but just the wire inserted into the holes like on the PAD4000.4? To me it just seems cheap..
