Hey everyone,

I am upgrading my center speaker and want to know which one to choose. My system has just been completely overhauled.

Front: R50
Surround: RC80i
Sub: PSW303
Receiver: Pioneer VSX-D912K

Should I go with the bigger Csi5 or would it over power my system and therefore go for the Csi3?

Thanks for all you help!
Jeff

I would try and first match your system, The models you mentioned are the "new" models.. i would stick with the R series or current rti's... you have a mix and i wouldnt add another sound into it with the new line

I think you will find that the 5 will stomp all over the 3, just like the 40 did over the 30. There is no worry about it overpowering your other speakers, just make sure you have balanced levels. The 5 will have much more low end, giving voices, etc. a much more natural sound.

****, just pick one. It's a damn center channel, which you are probably going to set to 'small' anyway.

    Cheers,

Buy the biggest center channel you can, that timbre matches, or is similar to what you own.

HT = Center Channel. Basic statement, but most of your data is thru the CC.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

So bigger is always better for the center channel? What a crock.

I take it that theory didn't apply in *your* rig? ;)

    Cheers,
    Russ

I think that the bigger center channel the better, but the other speakers need not be huge if using a subwoofer, yes. 50+% HT is thru that damn thing.

I have the CSi30 because I couldn't afford the CSi40 at the time. I am going to replace it when they come down in cost. I apologize for being poor.

Throw rocks at that fat kid Russ, you fooker :)

I'd say bigger is better if it's in the same line. :)
