Funny, because I subscribe to CEPro magazine. And there are more advertisements for wall mounts, structured wiring enclosures, low voltage junction boxes, Flat Panel TV power outlets, CCTV systems, networking gear, but very few for room treatments?

    Makes me wonder...

FYI, the previous issue of CEPro showcased a $1.1M demo room that had very few room treatments.

And 90% of the demo's I've seen (including the high-end audio at the Venetian at CES) ignored room acoustics.

    Hmm...

Considering his comment, "I don’t listen to much music recreationally - it’s almost always for professional applications. I do listen in the car, but that’s about it.", along with some of his other comments makes me think he's not the best person to be taking advice from in regards to home audio.

Also, no mention of the importance of power in home audio? Many recording studios regularly use power conditioners, surge protectors, rackmount voltage regulators, distribution panels, etc. but he doesn't mention any of this?

I think the first step in getting quality sound is putting your gear on a dedicated circuit. Running a 15 or 20A circuit directly to the breaker panel (bonus points if you install a subpanel!) and having quality power protection at a minimum. This made a significant sonic difference in my rig!!

Well, it depends on the rig. I didn't hear a significant difference when switching speaker cables, but power cables and dedicated circuits made a big difference. Doesn't mean that speaker cables don't make a difference, just that I didn't hear as big a difference. More like a small, subtle change.

^^ at least in my system. YMMV.

There is something for everyone - you just need to find what upgrades work best for you.

For me, power was the BEST upgrade I did for my system.
