I have the 5jr+ Series 2's and like/respect their sound, but I know that the 7's can go lower, with more authority. Many consider the 7's to be the best of the lineup. Hopefully someone who's had their ears on both will check in.

Specs (for the most recent Series 2's): Monitor 7 Monitor 5jr+
    Jay
    SDA 2BTL * Musical Fidelity A5cr amp * Oppo BDP-93 * Modded Adcom GDA-600 DAC * Rythmik F8 (x2)
    Micro Seiki DQ-50 * Hagerman Cornet 2 Phono * A hodgepodge of cabling * Belkin PF60
Preamp rotation: Krell KSL (SCompRacer recapped) * Manley Shrimp * PS Audio 5.0

Monitor 7 is the sweetheart of the entire Monitor series. Everybody should own a pair.

I too have the 5jr+ Series 2's and have always liked them. They're perfect in a smaller room and sound quite full when powered with my Marantz 2238B. The 7C's I have take it to another level, man do they sound great.

7's will play fuller and deeper, but the cabinet is quite large comparatively.

I have 5B's and those are about as big as I need in the office rig. If you have the space and stands for the 7's they are the better (fuller) sounding speaker, but if space is an issue be sure they will fit space and not overload the room. The word bookshelf speaker for the monitor line was a stretch, not really bookshelf speakers.
