2 VS 1 Subwoofer Question
I am in the process of finishing upgrading my HT speakers and have been running 1-Sub for the last 5-6 years. I am wanting to go to a 2-Sub system but can't afford any high end subs right now. Dropped all my cash on new fronts, center and surrounds. I have been running a JBL Powerbass PB-10 and for the size of my room have not been dissapointed ever. I was thinking of going with (2) Polk PSW10's to finish of my all new polk speakers and for the look I want with a sub on each side of the TV. Do you think I would be better of staying with the (1) JBL in lieu of the (2) Polk's?
My system right now is as follows:Onkyo TX-NR709
Polk Monitor 60 series II (Fronts)
Polk CS2 Series II (Center)
Polk Monitor 50 series II (Surrounds)
Polk Monitor 30 series II (Rear Surrounds)
JBL Powerbass PB10 (Powered Subwoofer)
Mitsibishi 82738 DLP 3D TV
Panasonic DMP-BDT105 3D Blu-Ray Player

I'd save up and wait for a deal on a higher end sub. One higher end sub will provide cleaner bass and lower extension than two mediocre subs.
I've looked into dual subs before, and from the research I did, placement seemed critical for making the second sub add bass ... if your placement is arbitrary, you risk having the two subs fighting one another, which might muddy your sound rather than enhancing your listening experience. And for the cost of two subs, you can get one nicer sub.
If the JBL is working for you for now, I'd stick with it until you can afford -- or find a great deal -- on something higher up the food chain.5.1 theater - Pioneer SC-07, Mirage OMD-CC center, 4 x Mirage Omnisats, Boston Acoustics VPS-210 sub
2.1 living room - NAD 7400 integrated, 2 x Platinum Audio Duos, MIT Terminator4 cables
2.1 bedroom- Arcam Solo, 2 x Mirage OMD-5's
FOR SALE - Genesis Servo-10 sub, Genesis Servo-12 amp; Martin Logan Dynamo sub; Mirage MM-6 sub; Harman Kardon DPR-1001 7.1 receiver -
^ +1. Save up for a better sub. PSW10s wont dig much deeper then the speakers your going to be running. Look for a good deal on a PSW505, or entry Outlaw, HSU, or ED subs.
BTW, I do own a PSW10, and its not a whole lot of sub. -

+2 on saving for a bit better sub. I also have a PSW10 and was quite disappointed by it.Living Room:

Thanks for all the information and advice. I think I will hold out and wait to get a better sub. What size sub should I be looking to get for a 300 sq/ft room?Mitsubishi 82738 3D (82" DLP)

The biggest one you can afford. You can always turn it down but once you max out the dail you can't go up any more. I might stick with a small 8" or 10" if your building a music system, but if it is home theater then I would deffinatly go 12" or larger.
The PSW505 is the lowest polk sub I would go. If cash is tight then it will get the job done. The Polk DSW Pro660Wi sells for $329 from New Egg on sale. It is more sub than the PSW505.AVR: Onkyo Tx-NR808
