Does your LSi25 powered sub amplifier make noise?
Hi,
I purchased a set of LSi25 over the holidays. Once I got them plugged into the wall I noticed a high pitched noise coming from both cabinets. This was explained to me by Polk Audio support as amplifier transformer plate vibration and that it should stop over some period of time. I guess I'm old fashion but after spending $1300 for a set of speakers I would think the only sound they would make would be the music coming out of the drivers. So, I requested an exchange for the LSi15. Polk Audio was really good about it and did the exchange without making me pay for shipping to return the LSi25's. Here's the thing, after hearing the LSi15's I regret returning the LSi25's. The 15's just can't match the 25's. Don't get me wrong the 15's sound great, but the 25's really make the music come to life. My question to you LSi25 owners is do you have any noise coming from your sub amplifiers? If the majority says no I will be sending the LSi15's back and asking for another set of 25's. Although Polk will probably make me pay for shipping this time around.
Thanks,
Tony

I don't recall mine ever doing that. The Lsi 25s don't get as much love as the 15s, but I really like having the ability to tweak the woofers.MAIN: Polk Lsi9s; Polk PSW505; Lsic (in box); Onkyo SR-875; Parasound 2250; Cambridge Audio 740C; LG BD370
OFFICE: Polk Lsi7; REL T3; HK 3490; CA 840W; Onkyo C-S5VL
BENCHED: CS20; OWM3s -
Wow, not many LSi25 owners. Oh well, the LSi15's are gone and LSi25's are on the way. Thanks for the replies.

My LSi25s buzzed. It drove me crazy. Sometimes they were worse than other times. When I would tighten the interconnect then the buzzing would lighten up but it was still there. Even my girlfriend who is not an audio person noticed this. All of which led me to crave and wish passive speakers rather than powered speakers. Now with my Paradigm Studio 100s there is no annoying buzz or anything however of course they dont go as deep as the 25s did but I am happy to have gotten rid of the buzzing and will just have to get a better sub.

Thanks zx_toth for the update. It's good to know I wasn't the only one that couldn't take the annoying buzzing. I've got another set of LSi25's on the way. If these make noise I'll probably just handle it through warranty repair. I just can't find other brand speakers of this quality at these clearance prices.
