Rollin' for the very first time!

Today, the GE JAN12AT7WC I've been waiting for came in. I've now got my first pair of tubes to roll! As I type, they're warming up in the preamp stage of my Yaqin MC-100B integrated amplifier, having replaced the stock Shuguang 12AX7's. I'm hoping that the lower gain 12AT7's will give me a smoother, warmer sound than the Shuguangs and their characteristic "bite."

So, do you guys have any tips for a guy rolling for the first time? Any tubes I shouldn't miss as I sink deeper and deeper into this madness?

Audio Blog review to follow once I log a little burn-in time and get to sit down for some serious listening sessions....

    You want lower gain and smooth, try the Sylvania triple mica black plate 5751's with the yellow print from the late 1950's.

    For a really nice 12AT7, try the Mullard M8162/CV4024.

    You do realize that you have now gone past the point of no return don't you?

    Rollin is dangerously addictive.

    I have been out of the valve amp game for a while but had the pleasure of the company of a Cayin TA50 for a week end and now I'm on the hunt again. They are addictive.

    I certainly am. It certainly is. I'm doing my best to maintain some semblance of self-control....
