Receiver Opinions

Denon AVR-3806 or Pioneer Elite VSX-92TXH or Onkyo TX-NR807
I own the Denon, but have been shopping for a family member and would consider upgrading and passing along my Denon. I found these 3 choices locally (fairly close in price). Receiver will be used for both music and movies with Polk RTi speakers and probably a BDP. If I change out mine and pass one along to the family member, I may use a B&K 5 channel amp and Oppo BDP.
What are your opinions of the above receiver options? I would assume the Pioneer might win in the video arena? And the Denon might do quite well with the audio? I know a lot of it is just a personal preference of what type of sound you like. However, which one would you choose and why?

If you use them in "straight mode"/"bypass"/"pure audio", they'll mostly sound the same if they use the same quality components, which I'm probably sure they do [however, they all have their signature sound if you don't use them in this straight mode... one may be a little bit more bassy, the other one amplify treble, etc.) So... They'll all do a real great job for both music and HT. Choose whatever has the options you need, the aesthetics than pleases you and power you need/lower distortion. You might as well try to see if one of these could support 4 ohm speakers, just in case you need it one day. As for the video, plug directly from your BDP to your TV, and the "issue" is solved.
However, as you plan to use a separate amp to power them, I'm not sure I would go in that high price territory as I would opt for a mid-level one... but maybe that's just me. I mean, sure there is a probably a better DAC in those higher level models, but all the premium price you pay for the better "amp section" is wasted.
However, as I am not in HT that much, my opinion may be biased.Speakers: Polk Audio LSiM 705, LSiM 703, LSiM 704c

I vote for the Pioneer, but that's because I really like my SC-O5. I still love my old Denon 1905, just because it has the pre-in's and out's.
Analog multichannel seems to be getting phased out. Which is WRONG in my opinon:sad:I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE! -

I've looked, but not much in my budget around $300. Plus, shipping tends to kill the deal on 35-40lbs. -
I got the Pioneer and was able to test it out before getting it to my brother in law. I think it may have put my Denon 3806 to shame...or I was deceived by having something "new" in the system.
Now I'm looking for myself to see if I'm missing something.
Where would an Onkyo 805 fall in comparison to these? -
Good receiver, if you can snag it in your 300 price range, do so. Every brand has somewhat of a signature sound, some differ alot, some not so much. Get the receiver with the bells and whistles you want, make sure it has preouts, and move on it. Your speakers will have more to do with the sound than the receiver imho anyway.HT SYSTEM-
