Well we all like to sound off when something does not go as we would like. I am going to sound off because a company did right by me. I purchased a Marantz CD5004 from Redfli Electronics off of Ebay. Received the unit and it had a transformer hum. Very slight. I lived with it for a few weeks but it finally broke me down. After contacting Redfli about it they had me send it back for a new unit. Within 10 days Marantz had sent it to them and they promptly had it to me. I wanted to give them a pat on the back for good customer service. And hats off to Marantz for standing by their units.:smile:

How do you like the CD5004? What did it replace? Listening impressions?

I replaced an old Sony 5 CD disk player. The sound stage on this player is large and spacious. It has very good detail. Good gain and bass response. Lively. I returned the original player because of transformer noise. I put my ear to this one tonight and hear some transformer noise but not like the other. It seems the other may have had something not tightened properly and the transformer was vibrating.

For the money it sounds very nice. I almost got the CD6004 because it has a better DAC and USB connection for iPod. A TT is in my future so I just bought what I felt I needed at this time. I like it.
