Be careful not to "knock them over" and hurt yourself and, of course, the speakers!

    But do enjoy!

My wife didn't take it as well as I thought she would when I brought home a pair of Vienna Hayden Grands for $480 that would have replace my (huge in her eyes) RTA11TL's. I think I might run this one by my wife tonight to see how she would react .

If your wife doesn't show interest in your audio equipment day to day, she wouldn't be interested in your new purchase and there's no reason to tell her...

Well this may not have been a good idea... My wife said that she would be really mad then continued by asking, "By the way, when are you going to get rid of all those speakers?"

I am excited as its always great to give your self a little gift to brighten up the hard working days

The speakers were supplied by the awesome folks at AudioAdvisor... highly recomend ordering from them as they are very good to deal with

Here is a few snap shots as I unboxed and put my RTI in for a size comparison

Its hard to believe that 2 year ago these went for over 4K and now they are the same price as the ML source are 2 yrs ago

I have them blasting right now and I forgot how terrible ML's sound when you just fire a set for the first time lol. Its weird because whilst doing an A/B with the ML Source the bass on the latter sounds better for now. I guess you really have to wait for aluminum cones to break compared to the paper cones.

One thing I do notice or one problem thats been vanished I should say is that the listening position is fantastic. When I sit my **** down on the couch the sound does not change from standing like it did with the source. The source are terrible because if you dont tilt them forward then when you sit you loose all the stage. I like this new flexibility I have and I can tell when they break they are going to be great and tide me over for a long time.

These will complete setup of a full 7.1 electrostat HT that I have been putting together for a long time. Hopefully I can get myself a pair of 707's when the novelty of the vista's wears off as I'm sure that they will be available on the used market by then... hopefully

A good set of speakers, to me, is "timeless". I don't suffer from "speakerlust"--an equivalent of wanderlust where one can never settle down but must always move to see yet one more place, experience yet one more people, eat yet one more cuisine on and on till death sweeps one away. So this "wearing" off you speak of...is not in my vocabulary. I add to the herd but I "do" not find myself "tiring" of classic sound!

But most of our members are lost in this "modernist" quest that is the .....lust!

I never experienced this lust until I joined the forum and started reading about all the goodies out there. I dont think I will get rid of the Vistas anytime soon but I have the learned that electrostats cant do everything so I would love some 707's for a dedicated 2 ch rig once I can afford it

My head actually explodes when I think I still need....MIT shotguns, dac, new amp, 3d pj, passive 3d tv,good sacd plyr and room treatments

I'm like you but I think it's because I'm financially challenged. People who aren't, well, they can afford to experiment with what ever their desires see fit. And that's fine too. I have no problem with that. A friend just called and said he had to liquidate a mans system up in DC. Age?. I forgot to ask. He had the massive Bob Carver tube amps in a ventilated, and timed enclosure. Phase Linear gear and all kinds of great audio. Doro, or F1NUT, did you or anybody you know get a part of it? But his system was mostly classic gear. The man also had thousands of albums. He could afford anything but must have settled like us to enjoy the sound in front of us a while longer than some others do.

I have bought systems because the prices were great just to hear them. There again, I could afford to. My limit is my limit and others have theirs. No problem. I guess I'd spend a little of my savings if a McIntosh tube amp (that had been recently rebuilt.I can't afford to rebuild one myself I don't think) came up on a local Craigs list or yard sale or auction for 500.00, I'd probably buy it just on my peers' referal reviews of such equipment. Heck, I spent 1500.00 on a Sunfire amp per Nooshinjohns' recomendation to power my 4 ohm Polk SDA-SRS2's. It has been a well spent investment even though it broke down 3 months after I bought it and had to spend another 350.00 Friken dollars to get it repaired.

That hurt. but here I was stepping up in the costlier realm of gear and it nibbled me a bit after I thought, all right, so far-so good. But some get mauled after they step up when gear completely malfunctions and melts and stuff after their used purchases..

I wish I could save every piece of audio I've ever owned but who in the world has ever done that. I'm a collector, not an experimenter.
I wish I could afford to be an experimenter but unless I hit the lottery, I'm content on what I hear most all the time.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.
