I was just doing a little research for future reference and I read this..(8 ohms 20Hz - 20kHz, THD .15%), Isn't a % that high bad or am I **** backwards? If ya need to know the product I read this on it was the Sony STR-DA9000ES. Just inquiring, thought it would be good to know even tho that is too much jack for me! LOL!! But I can always keep it in mind when comparing items.

THANX!

You'll never hear it. Focus on things like current capability, slew rate, damping factor and ability to handle low impedance loads.

Speakers typically run in the few % range on THD at moderate volumes and are by far the largest contributor to distortion in the component line-up.

I agree. Also, the STR-DA9000ES amp is very nice, and sounds great. When you see distortion that is 1.*+, run, run very fast.

Raife, the SDA man, uses one of them in the multiple SDA setups he has.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    Ditto the above...

Plus as a note of explanation, THD is reported at full output, which your amp should seldom be called upon to produce.

Just as a general note, one of the tricks receiver companies use all the time is to quote 2 channel ratings at 0.08% and then go on and report 5 channel ratings at 0.8%. If you are reading fast you may not notice and just assume the THD's are the same.
